Why don't you post your question... if the new phone is announced. Since no one knows what features the new phone will have or if its even real, your post is like the other 1000 on here.... pure speculation and really nothing but guessing....

I dont see some of those listed features happening.
1 the OLED screens are up there I heard.
6 a faster internet chip is useless, theres only so much speed you'll need for a phone
9 voice dialing maybe.
10 I doubt they will released unlocked versions of the phone.
11 GPS is a maybe.

In my mind, it probably depends on what additional features come out. These are some of the rumors flying around:

1. OLED (Organic Light Emittning Diode) Display
2. Camera in the front as well (possibly embedded in the display)?
3. Thinner display with less battery consumption
4. Slightly different form factor
5. Black case
6. 802.11n wireless (in addition to 802.11b/g)
7. Bigger battery
8. 32GB
9. Voice Dialing
10. Unlocked Australian Version
11. Integrated GPS

I think a lot of us are going to be handing down our iPhones to spouses/kids.

I wish we could get Family Data plans though. I'm not real excited about the extra $20 for the Data plan for each iPhone...

So random question. How many people are considernig selling their iPhone when the new 3G version comes out?

OK, here's my take again (I'm bored). Why does everybody think this is going to be some revolutionary product? I mean they aren't going to re-invent the iPhone. The 32GB option is probably a given, as is 3G. Aside from that and 2.0 firmware, I wouldn't count on too much else.

The camera might get an upgrade, perhaps to video and/or 3MP. I don't see another camera getting added. If you want to videoconference, get a MacBook. It's a phone, not "honey, I shrunk the mainframe!"

OLED. Why? I mean they're just finishing with standard LEDs in the MBP line. Unless I'm mistaken, OLED = more money.

Thinner display. Again, why? Is there a need to hold something the thickness of a credit card up your ear? It's fine as is. It doesn't feel like some flimsy POS when in use. Form factor also, well, factors into this. What's wrong with it now? I don't want a new form factor so soon because I don't want to have to figure out which cases and other accessories are for the version I have. The black case also gets a "why?"

802.11n is most likely not happening if not pointless. The ONLY benefit of faster WiFi is if you needed to transfer something over WiFi between devices on a LAN. The iPhone doesn't do any such thing. Therefore, it's just added expense for a draft device.

Voice dialing. Yep, would be nice. I just hope it's not as ornery as my RAZR became. I started shouting names in and it wouldn't listen to me. Methinks Apple didn't have theirs worked out completely so they initially shelved it. Better that than to have a crappy voice dial.

Unlocked? HA. Fat chance in Australia or anywhere. Get used to locked phones for a few years, folks. That'll probably change after 2010, but for now it's life.

Integrated GPS. Might be nice, but might kill the battery and the cost. Also, whose service would be used? I don't know the tech, but a generic GPS chip could be added on some models and then Garmin, Magellan, etc. could write an App for it. I think this might be on some extra model but not on all. Check out the N95 prices for why.

I will buy a new iPhone if it has 32 gigs of memory and 3G.

If it does not have those two things I will wait.

I will not sell my current iPhone, I will give it to someone else who is on AT&T to use.

Video calls are very common in many countries in Europe, Asia etc....
And theres plenty of 3G phones that can and were able to do that for years.
I made and received video calls before in Europe and to be honest it was really cool to see the other person and viceversa while talking to them.
I dont see why wouldnt the next Iphone since it would be 3G enabled not be able to do that.

That sounds cool unless you are a person with a face for radio :)

I think Europe & Asia are a little ahead of us on such technological stuff. When it comes to places like England and Japan, it probably helps that the entire population is concentrated on an island that's maybe the size of Georgia.

I honestly don't think I would use video calls because I am SO good at sounding interested yet not caring one bit. It's something one develops as a youth taking orders at a fast-food drive-thru. :)

i actually sold mine lastweek and now plan to buy a new one maybe today since its been slashed in price coz i misssss it! shops were sold out yesterday though damn them

Lol :D
See, drive-thru experience helped out.

Its bad enough having to talk to people let alone look at them! Thats why I prefer to text. :)

And to answer the original question, I will be handing mine down to my daughter or wife and upgrading to the next version. Cant wait!

See signature, already sold in anticipation of new 3G phone. I live on the internet, so I really want 3G. Paid $400 new, sold for $400 used on eBay minus the USB Charger (got stolen). It was bought in Sept so I consider myself lucky to break even. Didn't want to be stuck with it after the new one comes out. See now I am even minus tax when I buy the new one.

Living with a POS Nokia phone that we had around.

i sold mine last week but then decided to go buy another today because of the price slash :-D think it will hold its value to be honest - not alot of people actually keep upto date with these sorta things unless they really are into gadgets etc

And if you get a new iPhone, you just put your OLD sim card in the NEW phone, and throw the one away that came with it? Will the phone automatically authorize then? You know... because you have to use iTunes and everything.

youll prolly have to unlock it, last iphone i brought was already unlocked, but i couldnt help it and brought a brand spanking new one today from the o2 shop at £169! anyway so i got it home plugged it in it tried to obviously get me to register with o2's tarriff, had to hack into it and pop my vodafone sim into it, not sure whether the old sim will work on it now after experiancing the actual process of doing it myself today! maybe go to www.3g.co.uk into the o2 forum and ask someone there if noone can help here?

p.s after id unlocked it yes i threw the o2 one away

No sale here either. Going to be giving it to the wife. She has a chocolate (ver2). She has used mine for a couple of days and it is funny when she goes back to her phone and I can see the look of "crap this sucks" on her face. Priceless.

I'm selling my 8gb ipod touch for one. I do also have to wait till November for my freaking Verizon contract to expire. AHHH !!!!!
