How many traded or sold their Intel MacBook Air/Pro for a M1?

I don't ever recall seeing an option to trade-in via the store when I checked out and they mailed me a trade in kit. The same thing happened with my iPhone 12 mini and they also sent me a box though I went to the store and did the trade in that way. No issues.
The only reason why this has me worried is because I was considering getting a Pro and returning the M1 Air and when I went to select the trade in options again it said I could no longer do it in store I had to have it shipped. So it seemed like something changed. This was 2 days ago and that's when I saw the FAQ.
I did get that option to bring the trade in device to the store. Here is the confirmation email even to show you the same:
🙃 They seem a bit confused but it is definitely better to get it evaluated on the spot. I don't have any experience with mailing in a MacBook but I would definitely hesitate to do that. You can already get more money by selling it directly for cash. I traded it in to Apple for the convenience. If it isn't convenient, I might as well get more money elsewhere.
Maybe I was clicking too fast. If they don't accept the trade-in in the store I will just keep my MacBook or sell it privately or give it away. It's a 2017 15 inch Pro as well.
Yes, I did for the convenience as well. Otherwise I would have opted to sell it via Swappa but that pushes me to find a safe way to ship it!
You and I think alike. It would create too much anxiety to ship it and worry about all the things that could go wrong. I'm just going to try my luck and if they won't take it, I'll figure out what I want to do with it.
I'm holding onto my Intel Macs, for the time being. I plan on buying a top of the line (or at least 32GB RAM and 2TB i7 model) 4-port Ice Lake 13" MacBook Pro in the not too distant future as I still need Intel for x86 OS virtualization (both for Windows, Linux, and older macOS releases). Plus the option to Boot Camp once my Mac gets its final security update however many years later is kind of nice.
What I'm not sure of is whether or not I'll get an M1 Air also. My needs don't necessitate an M1 Pro. And the M1 Mac wouldn't be my primary Mac (if it was, I'd be going Pro); but I do IT professionally, and I'm struggling to find a scenario where I get enough hands on experience with M1 Macs going into a job where I'd have to manage them without owning one myself. I might try to coerce a family member into upgrading theirs with an M1 Mac so I don't have to get one. But that might still limit my hands-on time. We'll see though. One of my (Intel) Macs is a 12" MacBook that I use for beta testing new macOS releases in the summer. I had wanted it to do double-duty as a Windows 10 machine during times when there isn't a beta on-going. But my attempts to get it to run Windows 10 as the sole OS are turning out to be fruitless (and the SSD is too small for me to want to dual-boot). So, that might get sold in favor of an M1 Air used for that purpose. But we'll see. I'm also regularly toying with the idea that the Ice Lake 13" MacBook Pro could be my final Mac before completing my own transition back to being a full time Windows user.
The M1 revolution is at least one hell of a proof of concept. We can only wonder how this will affect the rest of the computing industry.

I’m still running my 2017 MBP. It runs great, and I’m not having any issues. I use it as a desktop and connecting it to my LG monitor. I’ll wait at least another year or so before considering and upgrade.
No, the M1 Macs do not have nearly the capability of my 16-inch MacBook Pro, nor are they mature enough or versatile enough for me to rely on as my sole computer. I am buying a base Mini to play around with, but I will not be abandoning Intel systems anytime soon.

Trying to sell my 2020 MBP 13 (16GB/512GB 4TB model) here in the UK, however finding it hard to get a sale at the moment. People offering silly money (£900 for a model that is still on sale by apple at £1700!). Wanting around £1250 for it which is still a good price but the resale prices have dropped here.....

Bought a 2020 i3 MacBook Air earlier this year to replace my dying 2012 MBA and the CPU was the only disappointing thing. Constant throttling and fan spinning up. Replaced it with an M1 MacBook Air and the difference is incredible, best laptop I have ever owned.

was lucky enough to sell my 2015 MBP i7 quad core 16gb ram 512 ssd r9 370x AMD gfx card for a decent price , so got the MBA base , its far better!
