I've been using it for probably about a year here at work. I keep track of all my work related business on one calendar, play stuff on another, all of my church activities on a third, my nephew's soccer games on a fourth, and the St. Louis Blues schedule on separate home and road game calendars. (Separated because I'm a season ticket holder.) US Holidays and Birthdays also have their own calendars.

I'm waiting, patiently, for the iPhone to get colored calendars so I can see stuff easier.

I think I should have not read this thread. I thought I was being organized by making a few entries on my calendar. Then, after seeing how calendars are used by others, I think I'm about to go crazy with my iCal when I get home.

Notes to self:
-Find out how to synchronize iCal with birthdays in Contacts
-Read up on this "publish and subscribe" thingmajig
-Create different calendars (an organization freak like myself can go wild with this one!)

I've added a poll.

I didn't used to use iCal before I got the iPhone, but I've always used a given cell phone's calendar feature and it's certainly convenient now that I can sync it w/ my MB without taking any extra steps. :D

Yup, have had my new Mac Mini (switched from PCs) for a scant four weeks. Began using iCal for Quicken reminders, but quickly added more events and To Dos. Have three calendars: work, home, and finance.

Used to use Outlook and became dependent on the calendar. In fact, during the five weeks I was without a computer - between the death of the old PC and arrival of the Mini -, among the most acute withdrawal symptoms was a desperate fear I was missing an important appt.

Not really.

I don't have much of a scheduled life. Just go where ever I go.

You don't have to have a scheduled life to have a need to keep birthdays on a calendar or other events like for example certain recycling days that the trash gets picked up... or whatever. Calendars aren't just for scheduling where you will be.

It does need more "colors" ;) as some of my kids have to share event colors!

You can have any color you want.

when you create a calendar or for existing calendars, have the drawer thing open on the side. Don't select an event, just select the calendar and you will see a little box with the color in it next to the calendar name, click on it and choose other and you will get a color wheel where you may choose any color you want. :)

why o why can't i add anything to my calender via the web. i'm at work at my PC and would like to add appointments to my ical and then sync them to my mac when i'm home?

i use ical but i would use it a lot more if i could add appointments even when i'm not at my mac.

is there a way to do this? via yahoo calendar maybe?

I love ical

I love ical. It pretty much runs my life. Even better is that it automatically syncs with my iPod. The only complaint i have is that i wish the iPod had a different view for iCal, so you could see what time each appointment was without clicking on them.

ICal Changes with Leopard

I love ICal and use it to run 2 businesses and my personal life. We use it as a scheduling program for our surgery center and now I can check the schedule on my IPhone.

Does anyone know what changes we can expect with Leopard on ICal?

Thanks for all of the good info.

I started with iCal, but it was too tough to keep things sync'd between my two home computers and my damned work PC. So I switched to Google calendar and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Highly recommended! Works very much the same as iCal, in fact iCal can be set-up to automatically sync with Google Calendar. All you need is a free Gmail account and away you go.

Syncing with Entourage calendar makes it a must use for me.

Since my office environment is all PC and we use Outlook calendars and invites for damn near every meeting, I now rely on iCal on my iPhone to keep me from missing meetings, etc. I think the iPhone syncing is what makes it such an important application. Before that, I pretty much just used it when I was scheduling a project and needed to see dates far in the future.

I would probably use it if I had a fast paced life with a lot of stuff to keep track of.

No I don't use it (currently)
