I've had my iBook since November 2005 and it still runs great - not ever had a single problem with it. I'm pretty careful with it though and it doesn't leave my desk very often.

I'm a bit worried that it might break on me one day soon though, and so I am debating whether or not to sell it soon to get money out of it while I can or just wait for it to break before I replace it. I think I could still get £300 or so for it now on Ebay so selling while it's still working isn't a terrible idea. I don't need the power of these new Intel chips though as all I use it for is Word, iTunes, Safari, iPhoto and watching DVDs.

Anyhow back to the point - 2 years and still running perfectly.

I've had my MacBook Pro since August of 06 and plan to keep it until August of 08 probably. I've found since switching to Mac, I've had less desire to upgrade once or twice a year like I used to do. :)

Wow you must be rich :|

I wish, just a fool with my money. But on a serious note I lose up too £250 but it's life and what happens with technology. I just deal with it and move on, I buy and sell a load of electronics so on the grand scheme it all balances out. MY SR 2.2 MBP, I sold after 4 months lost £200. But now that I am back to 17" MBP, I can see my self keeping it for a while. Perfect for me, unless some thing fantastic comes out in the 17" that I can't live with out. But I am happy with my 17" MBP. Famous last words.:)

I've been using my iBook for about five years now. Still works great. I maxed out the memory this year though, it was getting a bit slow. I would like a new MBP even though I don't really need it.

What changes did you notice in the performance of your iBook with the memory maxed out? How much did you upgrade by?

How many years you keep using your laptop?

I have a Titanium PowerBook G4, purchased at it's introduction 2002. It's screen brightness seems to be degrading, but I use it daily, email, web.

I also have an Powerbook 12" from 2004, my wife uses it, for the same purpose as above.

I just handed down to my son my original MacBook Pro, bought 2 years ago.

I'll be buying a new MBP at MacWorld in 2 weeks!

I have a Powerbook G3 from 2000 and it runs Microsoft Word for me when I wish to type up an email. It also serves as my download workhorse. The only issue with that machine was about eight months ago when the [tab] key fell off. :(

iBook G4 - passed on to parents after 18 months when it looked like the hard drive was about to croak and I didn't have AppleCare.

MacBook C2D - bought to replace iBook, this time *with* AppleCare, so keeping that until it runs out in 2010...

And for good measure there's a Wallstreet that I got second hand in March 2006 that I've still got.

I've had a MacBook since May 2006, I got it a week after they came out. I'm having so many problems with it:(, I'm probably gonna get a macbook pro or a new macbook in the near future.

I've had my powerbook G4 1.5Ghz 17'' since April 2004. I'm quite ready to replace it and will probably do so in the near future.

I was waiting to buy a SR macbook pro a year ago...got my hands on this old powerbook (Dec. 2004), and it works well enough for me to use it at school. I really don't need a replacement at all....But am still in the market for a macbook pro.

I refuse to upgrade unless two specifications are met: 512mb vram and revamped design.

I also need an ipod touch and printer so I might wait til back to school season :)

I keep mine for as few as possible, but realistically I buy a new one every three years (but I usually keep all of my old ones, and pick up extras to play with in between, so I just have way too many computers).

Normally when something new comes out I'll sell and buy it. Or wait for it to hit the refurb store! Love Macs because of their resale value!!! :D
