I will rarely have cash on me, some ppl feel uncomfortable buying everything with their debit card buts its just easier for me. i basically never need cash anymore, except i always get some before i got out to eat somewhere.

Is a check card the same thing as a debit card?
Similar...

For a debit card, you must enter a pin number, but with a check card, you sign just like a credit card. Usually by using a check card you can avoid any debit fees.

Either way, money is immediately withdrawn from your bank account.

I never carry cash around. Just seem to spend it easily. Prefer carrying debit/credit cards with me.

I tend not to. Bad in NYC when half the places take cash only or have a minumum for debit cards, but money burns a hole in my pocket and I tend to spend it if I had it....so it works :) I usually just keep $2-4 on hand in case I need to catch the subway and forgot my Metrocard.

i usually have about $5-10 when i go to work. usually its a few singles for the vending machine. if im going to the bar ill usually take $50. everything else is usually covered on the debit card. its easier that way.

Between $0 to $600, depending on what I'm buying, usually $100

I feel bad for the Apple store employees who have to use the counterfit pen on 30 $20's when I buy something there. Oh well. :p

Can't wait until I get a credit/debit card... I hate cash.

I try to have around $100 in mixed bills with me most of the time, along with credit and debit cards.

When I go to the ATM I always get $200. When it gets down to $40 or so, it's time for another trip to the ATM.

I think basically people carry what they can tolerate losing. I'd be annoyed if I lost $200 but it wouldn't ruin my month. $2,000, otoh....

When I was younger and made less money, I rarely carried more than $20.

I usually dont carry more than 40$ dollars, except most of the time it's more like 20. Unless I am going on a trip for the day (in which case I'd bring up to 100$)

Hate to carry money in my pockets, and never carry a wallet on my person. I keep a money pouch containing $100 or so and change in my car at all times along with my wallet (also kept in the car). That way, if I'm out somewhere I always have cash if I need it but don't have to have it on me. For some reason, I just don't like having things in my pants pockets, especially coins.

I always carry my credit card in my shirt pocket along with my work security badge, so I am always covered even when I forget to take money from the car when I stop at the store or restaurant. I try to put most purchases on the card so I get 1-3% back. The card is also my Costco card and I make most of my purchases there anyway. I would like to pay my utility bills etc. with the card to get credit back, but haven't looked into how this is done yet.

All this talk of money is making me want to go and buy a new imac now that Leopard is coming out.

Right now - Rs. 1700 (= USD $42.50).

I usually withdraw around Rs. 2000 (USD $50) from the ATM. When I'm down to Rs. 500 (USD $12.50) I go to the ATM again.

Anything that I can, I buy on the credit card (that includes all large purchases). However, India is not as electronic cash oriented as the UK or the US, so most small purchases still need to be made in cash (most mom and pop shops, small restaurants etc don't accept cards).

I don't feel comfortable carrying around more than $40. Usually under 20 bucks. I've never been robbed and I'm not paranoid, but I would be upset if I lost money.

If they don't take AmEx, I don't do business with them.

AmEx aparently has yet to catch on in the UK… surprising the amount of places (and online stores) that don't accept it.

As for cash? I keep some change in the car for parking… but plastic has replaced paper for me…

Oh and the damn gym will insist on £1 coins in the lockers — which I tend to forget to retrieve. Nice little earner for them I am sure…

Anything between £10 and €1500, depending on where I am and what I'm doing.

That's because the percentage and commission amounts AmEx charges UK businesses are way higher than those from Visa and Mastercard.

Depends on where I am

In Germany I never have any problems with carrying a couple hundred euro, however in some places in Europe I try to limit what I carry and will always keep a spare 100 euro note plus a credit card and some kind of ID in my hotel.

When I lived in Japan I never worried about carrying around a couple tens of thousands of yen either....

But when I go back home to the states, never more than $50, just don't feel safe with anything more. Plus its much less of a cash economy than most parts of Europe or Japan.

never more than £30 in cash. Debit card for anything else and American Express for work related things such as hotels, airline tickets or train tickets.

Usually none, which is a pain in the ass sometimes because my girlfriend ALWAYS carries cash, so she usually beats me to the cash register while I fumble about looking for my debit card.

I should really carry a few bucks, but I always blow it if I have it.

I'm exactly the same and it really annoys my wife that she has to always pay for the little things. But really, even coffee shops take cards. I'm talking about really small things, a pack of gum maybe.

I just take my Debit and Oyster cards out now, not even a wallet anymore.
