Titanium. Mark. My. Word.

That would be nice. Maybe an upmarket sports model.

I wonder if in the future they might have different feature sets and possibly different sizes. For example the sports model might have a built in gps might need a bigger battery so could be larger.

history tells us that apple will follow the same pricing structure, but drop the price of the older version (AW 1).

now i was thinking the other day that i wouldnt be surprised if apple did some sort of promotion in the future -- "buy a new iphone and get an AW Sport for $199." i could see them trying to pair the two devices together as a single purchase. kinda like the back to school specials where you got a free (or discounted) iPod Touch for buying a new mac during back to school season.

BOOM! I called this MONTHS AGO

There won't be a price drop I don't think. They will hold the price as they've done with all their other products when new models come out. I think that what they may do is offer a generous trade-in for Edition owners buying a new Edition.

I have a feeling this is going to be a product cycle more like the Apple TV than the iPhone/Ipad...meaning 2 to 3 years between refresh or redesign.

I'm happy with that too - it's a heck of a lot to ask someone to drop $350 and up. I need to feel at least a little bit like it's going to be something that lasts.

I know a lot of people defend the price but I think AW Sport is a 250$/300$ (38/42) device because I see it as a iPhone accessory. MAYBE if GPS comes along and some other junk I'm not thinking of but as it is I just can't justify it. SS and Gold can be priced anywhere as far as I'm concerned though.

It won't be less. Historically Apple hasn't dropped the price of next gen, they drop the current product to a lower tier.

That said, the watch is really underpriced compared to jewelry. If you want to see ridiculous pricing head to the jewelry counter.

I could see the sport maybe, and that is a big maybe, drop by $30ish. The SS is a premium product though and I cannot see them dropping the price.

With all the posts I see about performance issues and slow apps, I think Apple needs better hardware out this spring.

I will chime in and say that I would be very surprised to see Apple drop the price of the watch. I can only see that happening when gen 2 comes out. Even then maybe only a $100 drop for the Sport and Watch models?

Apple has zero financial reason to change price of new generation AW, until they start losing market share.
Market is not going to change significantly, unless Apple start to give away free AW.

Apple is not sole company responsible for market growth, specially when they continue to have 70% market.

Other than that $50 dollar discount for a combined purchase there's no reason for them to drop the price. Given that this option was provided I could see the possibility of some time in the future the possibility of buying the watch without a band for those that already have one. In that case there would be your discount.

what history everyone is talking about? It's just the first generation of this.

if we are going to talk about other devices, then think about the price changes since the 1st Gen iPhone & Macbook Air, their prices dropped constantly in the 2nd, 3rd generations.. In fact MBA still keeps getting more price reductions..

I don't see the price dropping any time soon. Apple Watch is still the most desired 'Smartwatch' out there. I work in the service industry, and Apple Watch is the one 'smartwatch' I see quite often, the others are hardly ever seen. Quite a few young people actually asked about it and they all though that it looked sexy and cool ( not something I usually hear). I think Apple Watch is actually doing ok. I have never regretted getting mine, and most likely I will buy the next one too, once my current one becomes too slow, or its battery dies
