My screen cracked as I stated in another thread, and I had no idea (well didn't think about) getting it done at a 3rd party shop would void the warranty. That shop ended up doing a good job for the most part. My main complaint is that it's not a retina screen.

I'll have to go to Apple in a couple of weeks to see if they will replace the replaced screen with an actual retina one. If they don't want to touch it I may just try to sell the phone.

How much do you think I could get for the T-Mo 128gb 7+ with an aftermarket screen?

Or would I be better off just trading it in to a carrier and upgrade?

Thanks!

How do you know it's not a retina screen? Many of these 3rd party vendors use same parts. The difference however is in calibration.

I'm not 100% sure. My display is just washed out looking a little. It has more of a gray tint to it and not as color-accurate and vibrant as iphone (or other brand of phones) screens.

The girl who did the repair said they buy from MobileDefenders.

$300-375 depending upon condition of good to new.

Many of the parts used by 3rd parties are true replacements. However, the screen calibration diagnostics to tune-in color very likely weren't performed. Hence you see washed out colors.

What is a true replacement? It is either an Apple screen or a third party screen. Apple does not sell it's parts. If not Apple then it is a lower quality knock-off.

Thanks for the link!

It does have a scratched area left behind on the top right corner from when it fell, causing the cracked screen. As mentioned the screen is fixed. I just don't believe it's a retina display.

Is flipsy one of the better places to go to?

Thanks!

There all about the same.
Next phone stick it in a otter case to keep pristine shape.

Funny you mention that. I had it in an Otterbox Defender the past few months. People kept saying they couldn't hear me well though. I assumed it was T-mobile's network. However, once I took the Defender case off, people said they could hear me better!

I'm always careful with my phone so was having good luck with it "naked." It just happened to slip out of one of my sweat pants pocket one day after getting out of the car. I got the screen replaced and now have it in an Otterbox Commuter. It's much slimmer - like it much more!

thanks

I used to use an OtterBox defender case for my iPhone SE (When I did own it) and I had complaints from others saying that they could not hear me. So I removed the OtterBox case figuring that might have been the problem and sure enough, everybody else could hear me just fine after I removed the case. Some cases can be the culprit with the microphone.

Best I can say is I have the otter box armor, no problem with mic.

The only gotcha was dropping in lake 3 foot, it worked. Belt clip failed, called otter box they sent 3 more clips for free.

Dropping in snow it works, took two days for melting to happen enough to find again - pesky snow plow.

And one Shepherd 50 lb. pup with heckuva bite, teeth marks in the camo pattern on back.

Glossy black case intact and still using the phone.
No bite marks on glass or iPhone.

Haven’t had a problem with being heard, and I’m relatively soft spoken, admit to elevated voice after dog peeled the case slightly.
