Hahah...i think I've used less in two years than some people in a month.

I just checked my usage screen, and the statistics were last reset on 8/4/07. I have 63MB of sent data, and 477 MB of received. I probably use maybe 300 minutes per month, 200 texts, and 20MB of data per month. I'm just not a mobile phone addict like many people.

This billing cycle:

2,553 MINUTES

433 TEXTS

2.54 GB DATA

FYI - Almost 3,000 emails almost all of it pushed

I think I'm getting my moneys worth :)

Thanks guys for most of you being honest lol.

How do you guys use so many texts? I'm a professional (med school, meetings with scientists and doctors, etc) and nobody in the professional world texts except only to friends and family.

It's mainly email in my world. I use that much data b/c I travel and rarely use wifi even at home. Plus I use a lot of facebook to keep in touch with friends.

Since April 12th:

300 MINUTES

6,500 texts

324 MB DATA

take this with a grain of salt of more cause AT&T MMA is down

Minutes- 400
Texts- 13,000-15,000 (not kidding)
Data- 500MB

I text...a lot.

I'm 16...so I fit that whole texting-till-your-thumbs-hurt demographic.

:)

What do you consider "the professional world"? My boss texts me all the time.

He's trying to say that most people who are as busy as him aren't able to go through a couple thousand texts a month.

My dad goes through maybe 600-800 texts a month as he too mostly uses email to communicate with his employees.

Minutes: 100-250
Texts: Over 10,000  I text about 3-4 people a day for hours. Some reason I'm a source of entertainment.
Data: 100MB I mainly use WiFi since it is faster than Edge. lol

Minutes depend if you talk on the phone or have Skype.

Texts depend on SMS usage vs. Push email or IM.

Data usage depends on 3G access.

I might use 3 - 5 minutes total while talking a lot more on Skype just because I get no mobile signal in my office. SMS is less useful to me than Push email or IM because everyone I know has a Blackberry, iPhone, or WinMo phone with push email or IM that they use. Data depends on the location. EDGE isn't bad, but it is hard to use up a lot of data on EDGE just using normal services in Safari, Mail.app, Beejive/IM+ etc. The real data usage (for me) comes from Last.fm/Pandora/Youtube via 3G when I am waiting on machines at a remote site with no wifi.

I think you need to get a life...

2,553 is the equivalent of spending 3.5 minutes out of every hour, every single day, on the phone. That's sad. Worse though, are people who claim they send 15,000 texts each month, clocking in at an average of 1 text message every 3 minutes, 24/7.

All that, and time spent on these forums...just goes to show why the youth of today has no clue when they leave school and get out into the real world. In a face-to-face interview, they don't stand a chance.

I would say an average of 1 text message a month, and maybe 10 minutes voice are used on my current mobile. When I get an iPhone I'll use the data far more, but when it comes to communicating, I'm old skool, and actually try to speak to people in person. Must be hard for people to understand I'm sure...

Well, everyone has different needs:

I'm in college right now and I use my iPhone a lot to talk to my family and friends back home, specially since I don't have a landline; it's also how people can contact me for jobs; sometimes I also need it to socialize since I usually have a crazy schedule and it's hard to make plans with friends so I usually text them a lot when I'm commuting between home, college and work.

Yes, some people may use their phones a lot but it's their choice and maybe they do need it. You're not better than anyone else just because you only send 1 text a month.

Also if you feel the need to criticize the phone usage of strangers on the internet maybe YOU need to get a life.

Ha ha this is really funny.

If people are sending that many texts a month, it means they clearly have a life and are keeping in touch with people - or maybe they are sending them to themselves ;)

Also I guess all this texting and Facebook/MacRumours etc means that "the youth of today" are becoming more and more tech savvy if only we lived in a world where technology was a big thing eh

Under 300 minutes counting nights/weekends.

Generally under 20 text messages. Last 31 days 58. One month last fall 100. Why I even have a data plan. MMS, when it becomes available, will probably increase the number due to sending/receiving an occasional picture.

400-500MB of data. Not including tethering once or twice a year.

Too bad there isn't a lower minutes plan that could save even $5/month.

Damn kids...they're just such hoodlums these days, aren't they? When they get older this world is going to fall apart piece by piece because they text people everyday.

Err not. Times have changed, get used to it. I've got more than enough friends that I see and speak to in person.
And I have had a face-to-face interview. It went great.

Yes! But can they spell without a spell checker? Can they carry out simple mathematic calculations without a calculator? Do they understand the rudiments of English grammar? I wonder! :D;)

in a face to face interview they wouldn't stand a chance?

how many places can you work that don't have interviews? i mean if you apply at publix or krogers.... of course you don't need an interview. you are there to bag people's groceries

not everyone is the same and a lot of people use it for business - if you can't accept that then you must either not have a job, or you have a weird one.

i use 100 mins/month (do most of my talking after 9pm)

i have 200 texts but usually don't use more than 30 or 40 ( too scared to go over)

and about 1GB in data (i tether a lot if you couldn't tell)

not to mention my email is out of control (from work, craigslist, eBay, friends+family, the girlfriend and from school) and i use it instead of texting.

Billing cycle ends on the 5th.

31 anytime minutes (almost all my calls are to AT&T customers)

295 night/weekend minutes

104 texts

145.14MB data (I use mostly wifi)
