It's funny how the guy goes from speaking perfect English, to broken grammar.

Do I just relist this..?

apparently eBay is as dumb as a bag of rocks.

So I contact them.. give them vitals:

Buyer outbid others; My posting says ships to UNITED STATES; Bidder says to ship to a friend & he will receive.

So I called eBay because I needed varification. Apparently the address is varified under the users account and I can send the package, which is fine, however is there anything else I need to disclose?

I'm still slightly thrown off by this..

You need to use a method that includes tracking for paypoo/egay. Else the buyer could claim he never got it and paypoo will side with the buyer. For international shipping with tracking, the shipping cost will be prohibitively expensive. I shipped some stuff to my sister (weight was less than 1 pound) in the Middle East, using USPS with tracking, and it cost me 69$. I dont know how folks can sell to international bidders, the likelihood of fraud just goes way up.

The developed countries like Oz, some countries in the Middle East, etc are usually fine, but third world countries like China, Latvia, etc., the fraud stats make it not worth it for expensive items. Im speaking from personal experience with egay/paypoo.

You can send a second chance offer to the second highest bidder.

I've contacted them, with no response as of yet

You dont need to contact them. Just go to your My ebay page and select "Send Second chance offer" from the drop down list to the right of your listing (which should be under "Sold").

You can also cancel your transaction with the Chinese buyer from the same dropdown menu by selecting "Resolve a problem"

So should I wait until they attempt to buy, or post my listing again?

You can set a time limit for the second chance offer. I think there are options for 1 day, 2 day and 3 days. You can also relist the item while the second chance offer is being mulled over and then just cancel the listing (must be done at least 12 hours prior to auction end) if the second chance offer goes through.

It's strange because normally I would have sold my iPhone within a day or two on eBay but I'm struggling to generate any interest this time around. It's a 64GB white factory unlocked 4S, at £450 at mint-ish condition it's a steal, I'm even offering to jailbreak if the buyer wants. No one is interested in the 4S.

Checked one listing on ebay where bid started at 400$ for a 16GB used 4S and no one bid on that. Seems used phone prices are going down south (better for buyers).

Sad face

But, I've seen water damaged iPhones go for more than $300 in the last few days. And the damage is mainly done to that stupid plastic trim that runs around the glass. If there was some way to easily replace just that without diassembling the entire phone, it wouldn't look nearly as bad.

If it doesn't sell, I'll drop the price another $20-30 and cross my fingers.

I see you got $359... Congrats!

They are allowing me to relist my bid..

Should my ultimate goal be to sell it by Thursday? starting to today? Or have a five day bid?

$550 for white 4S AT&T-unlocked 32GB CL back in early July. Sold within the hour of posting it, met up at a Starbucks. Had an unlocked Galaxy Nexus for a month, to try Android (first device), then sold it on here in August, and been using a backup 3GS since then.

Can't wait!

3GS->5

:D

And k800i is great! I had a w810i and k790a (the k800i but with 850mhz US bands for at&t) and loved them both. These were some of the last "dumb"phones I had since before giving Blackberry, and consequently, iPhone a try

Thanks! BUT... the guy who bought it opened an eBay account THE DAY he bought my iPhone. He has NO FEEDBACK and his name is Zulay Avila... PayPal is also "reviewing" his payment and I'm being advised not to ship until they've approved it which is supposed to take less than 24 hours.

Now, from what I've gathered reading online, PayPal reviews payments on new accounts so it doesn't actually have anything to do with this guy in particular. It's just standard practice. AND the guy is just one state away at a CONFIRMED apartment address (however he is "unverified" as can be expected from a new eBay user, because not everyone knows how important it is to verify their bank account right away. And perhaps he hasn't received the verification deposits yet or had time to go through the verification process).

So... once the payment is approved, considering his address is confirmed, I don't really see how he could scam me. As long as I'm eligible for "seller protection," (I'll be requiring a signature) I don't see the harm in shipping. But otherwise, I might be relisting.

I read somewhere that you can't use the amazon gift card/credit to make wireless phone purchase. Is this true?

You can't use it at wireless.amazon.com - but the off contract phones are sold through amazon.com.

It looks like I'm good to go. The buyer's payment was approved tonight and I'm eligible for "Seller Protection." Just as long as I require a signature. So, I see no way for me to be scammed.

I got $360 for a white 16gb Verizon 4S. It has some scrapes along the plastic bezel that runs around the glass and a tiny chip in the glass right along the edge. eBay got $20 and PayPal got $10. I was actually surprised they didn't take more.

just got $410 for my Verizon 64gb iphone 4s. Sure, not the $500-550 I was expecting, but after a 5 day auction, and now looking on Amazon at everyone attempting to unload their iphones on there.. Im glad I got it out of the way now. The original winner was a scam artist so I advise you to ONLY sell to US ebay users who use paypal to confirm. And to make a RESERVE bid so you dont get less than what you feel you deserve. IE.. if your phone is an unlocked one.. charge a little more.

-I noticed people dont go for the "jailbroken" sales.. so dont even bother mentioning that until the person wins the auction. You turn more people away when they feel they cant activate it [naive "I dont like jailbroken stuff, folks.
-Only sell to the United States.
- Make sure you make correct disclaimers.

Seeing everone getting $450-500 for a 16gb white makes me want to get a white iphone 5 for verizona nd get my phone unlocked next go around.

Only got $355 for my 64gb Verizon Black iPhone. Could've made more but not too concerned.

agreed. I figure Verizon lets all their customers charge up to $400 to their account. If the iphone is $849 like I expect it to be for the highest GB.. Looks like I'll have to save all my coins from payday on the 15th and practically eat NOTHING but groceries haha. Girlfriend will be mad. But the iphone is moreso important. Wish I could've got the $550 now but whatever. It says the paypal money should be full accessible October 1st.

I have a 32GB 4S and I can't sell till after the phone is launched. Would unlocking it add some extra value to it after the 5 is released?

64gb AT&T black unlocked by AT&T sold for $480 On craigslist,I paid $600 for it sealed new no tax etc so I took a $120 loss but had I sold it for a little more on eBay I'd have fees and PayPal takes a cut rite back down to $480ish

I sold my 64GB White 4S for $580 when the Galaxy S3 was launched. After having an Android phone for two months, I really miss my iPhone. For me, outside of the customization that Android offers out of the box, I think everything else is done smoother and cleaner on iOS, so I am going back to iPhone when the new one comes.

On a side note: Selling an Android phone is much harder and slower than selling an iPhone. Many, many, many more people are interested in used iPhones.
