Now that this is a poll, It's depressing to see that I'm the only one in the 20.000+ category so far. Then again, I've been using macs for a pretty long time.
Well, after having owned Apples, Macs, accessories and peripherals for about 25 years,

I wish to continue to live in complete denial.

Thanks.

I didn't spend my own money until the early 90s, so that helps, but I'm still not adding it up. No way, no how!

Like... $200: $100 for my ipod touch and then about 100 on itunes stuff. Oh, I bought my ipod video so... really like $350 over the last 5 years

How much I have spent is very different to the value of the goods I have got.

Macbook £770 paid £270
iMac £1151 paid £0
iPhone £260 paid £0
iPod Nano £120 (?) paid £80

Therefore £2300 worth of stuff for a total of £350

errr... and how did you manage that if you don't mind me asking? ;)

My local education authority paid for the iMac and most of the Macbook. The iPod nano I bought 3 day old used once second hand and my gf got me the iPhone.

My MacBook Pro 17: Refurbed @ $2400.00.

My Dad gave me my iPod 30 (5th gen), and so thus the notebook is the only Apple product I've ever purchased with my own money. (I'm a new convert anyways...)

I Must say that if a red-headed child spilled grape juice (or your choice of similar personal-absolvement accident) on my computer, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I'm sold on Apple quality.

iPhone 4gb............ $299
iPhone 3g 16gb............ $349

£3,000. Bang on.

Powerbook, iMac, Macbook.
3rd gen iPod, iPod Mini, iPod 5.5G, iPod Shuffle.
replacement alu keyboard.

Oh +£40 for having a computer repair shop install a new HDD since Apple thought it best to make it one hell of a task.

I've spent approximately £6500 over the last 5 years.

I've got £2500 back from selling old stuff on eBay and would probably get £1500 back for the stuff I've still got.

That means I can kid myself I've only spent £10 a week on Apple gear. :D

Well, lets see.

Powerbook G4 Titanium DVI - Listed for $3199 but after an education discount and the jaguar launch party discount, I paid about $2600 for it at the Apple Store Wellington Green.
iPod 4g 40gb - $399.
iSight - $80
Power Mac 6100 - $20 at a garage sale
Power Mac G4 Quicksilver - $25 through a recycling program at my college.
Power Mac G4 MDD - $100 again through said program.
iBook G3 Clamshell Firewire - $50 again through said program.
Powerbook G4 Aluminum 1.67 High Res - $460 from ebay. Has a couple dings but otherwise in great shape.

Grand total is about $3734 that I paid for the things above. However, had I bought most of the computers new, it would probably go above $10,000 easy.

I have gotten off light compared to some people here. Wow.

Let's see...

17" Powerbook G4 (refurb): 1700
1.83 C2D Mini (Bought from coworker): 500
5th gen video iPod (refurb): 179 (maybe 189, I forget)
1st gen iPod Touch (refurb): 219
2nd gen iPod Shuffle (refurb): 39

Total: a bit over $2600

Yeah, I'm a cheapskate. :)

I'm in the 4000+ range with a Ti Powerbook, an iMac, an AEBS, and some iPods being the only new purchases I've made. As far as second hand or used stuff I've picked up a G4 MDD Powermac and a Quicksilver. I think it would be good to note if your purchases are for personal of business use. Others may not care, but I think it makes a difference. For example most, of course not all, but most people are not buying $10,000 systems for personal pleasure uses like email and internet. All of my purchases have been for personal usage.

How far does this go back? Lets see how much I can ruffle off my mind:
(all of these are the 'in the day' cost)

LC475 (possibly 2) $2k
IIGS with 2x5" floppy-disk drives $2.5k
- 1 mB RAM ($1700)
Some Performa...
Red G3 iMac 400MHz $2.5
Graphite G4 800Mhz (2nd hand, $dunno)
20" Apple LCD
PBG3 $4k
Demo 667 Mhz TiG4 $4k
500Mhz TiG4 $5k
12" PB 867Mhz $4k
15" 1.5GHz PB $4k
17" 2.33 MBP $4.5
15" UMBP $3k

iPods:
3G $500
2G Nano $250?
80 gig Classic $300

Oh and 3x 16gig iPhones and 2x 8gig iPhones

So 40k in Australian dollars, without taking inflation, and the unknown$ items. Don't start me on accessories...

Apple Mac Pro 8-Core 2.93GHz (Nehalem)
Apple MacBook Pro 15" 2-Core 2.93GHz (Unibody)
Apple 24" LED Cinema Display
Apple Time Capsule 1TB
Apple iPhone 3G 16GB
Apple TV 160GB
Apple Remote
Apple In-Ear Headphones
Apple Wired & Wireless Keyboard
Apple Wired & Wireless Mighty Mouse

$12,000 worth of equipment to draw furry porn.

In just over 4 years:

iPod mini - £160
iBook - £700
iPod video - £220
iPod charger - £20
iPod socks - £20
iPhone - £100

£1,220

Makes me glad I returned the ****** in ear headphones.

Probably around $2300

MacBook Unibody 2.4 Ghz. - $1700 after tax
iPhone 8GB First Gen - $599
iTunes Cards $125
About $2300

I might add I've also bought a few songs from iTunes... if that counts...

Oddly enough, even though I have owned an iPod for almost 4 years, I have never bought anything through iTunes. I mostly refused because of the DRM, but I guess that excuse is gone now. I still like Amazon's MP3 store, though.

Hmm...I do have a $20 iTunes gift card that is about 6 months old. Anyone know how long those are good?

MacBook: $1099 or something like that
MacBook Pro: $1999
AppleCare: $279
iPhone: $299
iPod: $249
Performa way way way back in the day: ~$1100
Various iTunes purchases: $350

So a little over $5, 000. Not too bad I guess. But that's just my list.

I'm cringing just thinking about the amount of money my husband has spent on Apple products. In the 5 years we've been married he's probably spent close to $10,000. Over the course of his lifetime, he's probably up in the $20,000 range or so :eek:

2004 - iBook G4 12" with 1.25GB RAM and 3 years warranty - 1500€

2006 - iPod 5th generation 80GB - 350€

2007 - iMac C2D 20" with 4GB RAM and 3 years warranty - 1300€

2008 - MacBook white 2.4GHz with 4GB RAM and 3 years warranty - 1300€

2008 - iPod Touch 2nd generation with 8GB - 219€

2008 - Unibody MacBook Pro 15" 2.53GHz with 4GB Ram - 2100 €

5854€ = 8.064 USD

*****, I've spent only 3500€ for two windows laptops before that, and before that my dad gave me computers.

I fall in the $4K-$10K range:

Everything in my sig line, plus I am buying a new 24" iMac with the werks when I get home from Kuwait.:D Hopefully, they will have Snow Leopard out by then.....

Oh yeah! I forgot the Airport Extreme.....
