I would guess around 500, maybe around $300 from songs and most of the rest from apps.

Keep in mind though that people on here purchase a lot more from apple than the average consumer.
 
Since 2005 I have spent about $100 on music. Since I got my iPad 2 a year ago, I have spent about $500, mainly on books.

If you include TV shows and Movies I have spend about $1500.00 +/- a $100.00
There was a time where i bought a bunch of TV shows thinking that I want to keep them but I was running out of HD space in a hurry and have since quit doing that.
I have to be honest but nowadays I just bit torrent my shows if I did not record them on the DVR and then delete them when I'm done watching.
I only do this for TV, I do buy or rent my movies and songs.
 
Blimey! Are you lot aware of AppShopper? With that and a little patience you hardly ever need to pay more than 69p (99c).
