I've only had the iPod Touch 4G for a week or so, and already I've spent $39 for apps..

Btw. I am not going to pirate apps from developers who charge only 0.99 or even up to $9.99, so I don't give a damn about install0us. These are reasonable prices, and I want to support them. Take Good Reader - it's 1.99 and an extremely useful app, so yes, I paid, and I was happy to do so. Btw., I'm not some goody-two-shoes - I've used bittorrent to get expensive apps for my iMac to try out... I'm not gonna drop $399 for an app only to discover I don't like it. So I like to try 'em out, and if they are really really good, I pay, even when they cost quite a bit.

But apps for the iPod/iphone? That's a no-brainer to me - I pay, and I'm happy to pay. To each his own, just my opinion.

$18 - used a gift card to buy an itunes gift card though so really $0 of my own money.

i really like the appshopper website though. i've picked some good apps up for free there and if I like them I tell my friends so hopefully the devs get some $$ from my free download.

So far ive spent $3.21 although none of it was actually mine since I won a $15 itunes credit. Its kind of the reason why I actually bought apps. Ill prob keep buying until I finish up the credit.

No need to pay...

Most of the time I can source an app through the net, must be patient but monitoring the promo section on MacRumors and similar resources prove to be fruitful for me. As well ask asking for them personally, media promotions etc. Other "must-haves" which are harder to acquire have ran me about 22€ net.

That doesn't give you the amount you actually paid for an app. MLB At Bat shows $6.99 and I paid $14.99. Geometry Wars shows $4.99 and I paid $9.99. So it doesn't take into account that you may have actually spent more or less for an app.

Yeah that's correct. It doesn't take original prices into account, just their current price in the store. But it'll give you a pretty close number to what you've spent. And you have to option in the program to manually set how much you spent on that app. so go to MLB and say you spent $14.99 and it'll update your total.

It's just a handy tool that does the most it can.

I've spent about $10 so far total. I am quite picky about what I buy and when there is something I want I put it on the AppShopper list and wait. MOST apps I noticed have a pattern to them. Developers know that by raising and lowering the prices it triggers alerts on things like AppShopper. It works for me :D.

I've purchased, off the top of my head.
PvZ
AngryBirds
Secret of Monkey Island
deBlob
Assassin's Creed
and a few time management apps I can't remember now.

Had I stuck my initial word that I was only going to put free apps on my iPhone when I first purchased my 3G, I would be at $0.00. However, the whole "only d/l free apps" thing lasted about six months.

In total, I've spent roughly between $100-$125 on apps between my 3G, 3GS, and now my 4. Although the TomTom app has been my biggest app purchase thus far.

Almost 7 hundred in App store, approximately 1 hundred in cydia. Haven't pirated a thing, though I don't purchase music, books, or movies from itunes. Can't say all my purchases were smart, but I do like the apps and developers have to make some money. :)

I spent total of $0.99 of my own money, but that was to purchase an app that gave out $10 iTunes gift card (by writing a review, tweet, and FaceBook).

Since then, I've used ShopKick to earn $50 in free iTunes gift card and spent $8.97 on app purchases (Instapaper, Library Books, and Camera+).
