From what I understand, they offer each employee a free iPhone, iPad, and MacBook upon hiring and completion of 90 day probationary period. They provide the most recent version of each device and offer free upgrades to employees on each device cycle upgrade. They also offer complimentary wireless service on each device - unlimited talk, text, and data.

$40 an hour makes you rich now?

40 hours/week at $40/hour nets you $76,800 a year before taxes. That's barely enough to live. Basically the bare minimums.

They also throw in $500 in iTunes credit weekly for your music/video/entertainment needs.

Well, depends on where you live. If you live somewhere like San Francisco or Seattle...you might struggle to get by on $76k/yr. If you live where I live, Phoenix AZ...no problemo. I make around $60k a year and live pretty comfortably here. When I lived in Wisconsin I was making about $40k a year and was living just fine - handling a mortgage, car payment, all other bills without issue.

You do bring up a valid point. I live in a super overpriced city, which is Boston. $76k would be pretty hard to live off of here or even in NYC. Crappy apartment, old beat-up car, and covering all the other bills. Pretty hard to live by yourself with that salary, but a family? Forget about it

I'm sure you could live quite well with that in other places though. That being said, the other poster made a comment about people making $40/hour being rich, which is just ridiculous IMO.

I make ~$45K/year and can make all my bills without issue. Doesn't leave much extra but my car is 4 years old, I have a decent apartment and I can do SOME things for fun. So, being "rich" is all relevant. I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy making 50%+ more than I am now.

Ugh, that place. Only peasants stay in that. Surely not Apple Employees!

Yeah, after my trip to Mexico City a couple months ago, it's Hilton or nothing. That Hilton was the nicest place I've ever stayed.

I'll take a Hampton Inn as an alternative (Hilton family of hotels still).

While it varies my Podunk town is not that cheap to live in, so local store starts at $12, not $10 like some others.

Many are students who are there for maybe six months, tops. I don't recognize any faces from this relatively new store that were there at opening. We are so close to San Jose and was first area in USA to largely migrate to online shopping and other than my dad who likes to develop relationships all Apple product buyers I know of bought online.

The good thing about him being a customer is that they fix all stuff right then and there and will go one on one class with just him on demand. There are too many workers there having nothing to do so they are more than willing to help and spend time with you.

The store concept is not so good around me but I suppose there are areas not as wired that have a populace that buys their Apple products at Apple Store or other physical store. I have never bought a single product other than iPhone
from any store but have bought Apple stuff since 1999.

I did get iBook from independent computer store but the dozen or so Apple products I have came from online and many local Apple fans I know have never stepped foot in Apple Store.

I hope Apple Stores succeed long term because I don't have to stand around mall and watch wife shop, but it's just not working here in the most online influenced city on earth (in and around Silicon Valley).
