That is so negligible that I would literally BUY that one off you and/or trade you for mine lol.

The point I'm making is that if I posted it with the original white balance you would think it looks like crap and is "defective". I've yet to see comparison pics from people who believe there are defective yellow units everywhere.

Just as an extra word of warning: The "yellow" one isn't necessarily the "wrong" one. It depends on many things - mainly the room lighting and your eyes.

If you point your iPhone at either iPad, they'll both end up looking white because of the auto-whitebalance. Point it at both of them, and it'll have to pick one or the other, and one will end up looking yellow or blue depending on which it chooses to use as 'white'.

Same thing happens with your eyes. If you look at the 'blue' iPad for a while, it'll look white. Switch to the yellow one and it'll look terrible. But stick with it for a while and it'll look white, then the other will look horribly blue.

Lighting does the same thing. Some lighting is more blue, some is more yellow. If you have bluer lighting, your iPad will look yellow even if it's perfectly white.

Because of that, don't compare them side-by-side, other than for brightness. Use them separately and see if the yellow tint is a real issue. And only exchange it if it's a big issue, because otherwise you might change a light bulb next week and find your new iPad is cold and blue ;)

When I first got my iPad, I compared it to my iPhone 4 and I thought my iPad looked yellowish. Today I went to a best buy and an apple store, and I compared my iPad to the models on display. The ones at best buy we're bluer but MUCH less bright than my iPad on all settings. The blue made them almost look washed out. At the apple store the models were more yellow than mine but the same brightness.

At this point I think my iPad is the perfect balance between blue and yellow. My iPhone is too blue. I didn't prefer the bluer ones at Best Buy at all. The lack in brightness was very noticable. If thats what you are looking for by exchanging it I would say forget it. Yours really isn't that bad.

I've been using my iPad for a few days, started to notice it seems a bit yellow (as many others have stated)

I scheduled an appointment at an Apple Store for Wednesday (sadly the closest Apple Store is 100 miles away :( )

Here is 2 pictures I took with my 3rd Generation iPad on the right and an iPad 2 on the left.

Opinions? Does it appear noticeable yellow to you?

Hey, I just checked my iPad 2 and 3 next to each other. The color temps look very similar with the ipad 2 being slightly cooler. I don't see any yellow tint. If you don't like how it looks, you should exchange it.

I actually noticed it while using my new iPad, that is what prompted me to compare them.. So I don't necessarily think that is the issue.

Your comparison is difficult because you don't have another retina iPad in the equation. Comparing to the iPad 2 and the iPhone retina will almost across the board leave the retina iPad looking warmer than the other two. The question is does it LOOK brown and yellow on its own merit or is it just warmer in comparison to the iPad 2.

This pic shows two new iPads and an iPad 2 (far right). Notice how the screen in the center just looks terrible. This was not something I noticed because I compared it to a cooler example, I noticed it because it was WRONG and that prompted the comparison. It is highly likely your new iPad is fine if you didn't go "WTF?" the first time you saw the keyboard.

The left side is very noticeably yellow, the right side.. while still yellow, is a little better.

Reminds me of all the discussions surrounding the color variations on the 2010 iMac screens. Think I'll wait a little bit, until the dust settles on this issue, before I pull the trigger on a new iPad.

Are you guys kidding me??? Anyone care to explain why this thread is not deleted? it is RIGHT UNDER the yellow tint thread!!!!!?!?!?!!!

A lot of cheaper monitors have their colour temperature set way into the blue range to make them seem "brighter" and more vibrant to hide their lower colour gamut.

Those of you complaining about blue text being "purple" and white being "yellow" have just gotten used to monitors that are set to a cool "blue" colour temperature instead of a natural one. They colour temperature is actually closer to what you would see on printed paper but your brain is used to seeing cooler temperatures on an LCD screen. The added resolution is also causing your brain to go into an infinite loop. It is an LCD screen but it looks like "paper" because the pixels are so small.

To the OP,
Its completely normal.

What we must understand is that this thread is being looked at by 100s of people with 100+ different monitor configurations. Not only will we not have the same displays, we might have them configured differently. So just by looking at a picture, everyone gets to have a different opinion because it LOOKS DIFFERENT to each and every single one!

In any case, my iPhone 4 had a blue hue. The replacement iPhone 4 I got in late 2011 had a yellow hue. The iPhone 4S I got has a yellow hue.
It seems Apple is moving to screens with a yellowish hue on all their latest gadgets.

It's normal.

Getting it changed just because you haven't given it 2 days to adjust to, is absurd. I live in a country where the new iPad hasn't even been launched. That is a perfect screen and I would buy it off you.

Okay to the photography geniuses, why does the black(letters on keyboard, back arrow on browser) seem so much less vibrant on the iPad 3 on the left, the one that doesn't have the yellow display, is it an "illusion" or what. Thanks.

The yellow tint is very noticeable but something else more annoying stands out, the left side of your screen does not have the same color shade compared to the right. Extremely obvious.

Here's the same photo I posted earlier with adjusted white balance.

Same issue on this screen, left side has a different color tone compared to the right side.

Does anyone have a side-by-side with an iPad 2 that shows them looking the same?
