I charge my 3GS once every 5 days, whereas I have to charge my iPod touch every day as I use it a lot. Almost quadruple the usage than my iPhone.

I was told that it's good to occasionally run the battery completely down and then recharge it. One of the "Genuis'" told me that the battery has a limmited number of recharges till it's shot so it's in your best interest to run the charge all the way out before recharging.

That said, I put mine(3G) in the charger nearly every night. Sometimes, if I haven't had a heavy usage da yI can get 2 days out of a charge

Usually 2 full charges a day(hook it to a charger once it reaches 10% or less remaining), not including always placing it on a charger overnight to start the day at 100%. So, I guess that counts as 3 full charges a day.

Not true. It is true that it is a good practice to run the battery down all the way and charge it back up maybe once a month or so (See: Recalibrating Battery). However, the recharge cycles you talk about work like this, for example: Say you use 50% of your battery in a day. You charge it up overnight to 100%. The next day you use 50% again and charge it up that night again. That counts as one recharge cycle. They do not count as two recharge cycles.

I recalibrate my phone every two-three weeks just because of the OCD. It's usually in the iHome iP9 dock during the day so I can listen to my Sirius app at work. I then plug it into my computer and sync a few times at night (since my calendar always changes), so my phone is probably charging/plugged in at least 50-60% of my day

I charge my 3GS whenever I get the chance. Whenever I'm on a computer like the MacBook pro or the iMac it'll be plugged in via USB. If I'm in my bedroom watchinch tv it'll he plugged in next to me.

If I am driving in my car it'll be plugged in the charger. Usually my phones always charged between 90-100% whenever I look at it.

The poll is pointless, since the iPod Touch and the iPhone have totally different times they can hold a charge (unless one is using the phone as a Touch).
Agreed.

And wow at the poll results. I thought I only had to charge mine every day 'cause it's a 2G, so it's old . . .

I've been sizing up my chances of trying to watch films on it during a flight to the US I've just booked. Thinking there's no way the battery could make it through and I don't want to bring a dumb phone just so that I'm guaranteed a phone on the other side :(

I'd take it at double the thickness if battery life was improved.

my iphone lasts from 7am monday until about 5pm tuesday with moderate use, i need it until 7 tuesday. So every night it at least gets a boost :)

For normal day-to-day use, I plug my phone in over night - every day.

When I am traveling and it is getting heavy use, I have to charge it mid day as well.

Never less than once a day though...

Charge mult times a day. On way to work / at work (when needed) / way home / when sleep.

I charge mine every night while I am asleep... however, it usually has 30%-50% battery remaining when I plug it in... I just like it at 100% to start the day off

Same here. I put my phone in the craddle to charge overnight, so that it's at 100% to start the day off.

Old thread, so thought of reviving it.

Charge it everyday, at night, and when I come back home from school. I do this because my phone is used as a hotspots for my friend's phone (he uses a $50 midget slow phone as an iPod Touch) and also for my tablet. Sometimes, other friends come on, sometimes my iPod Touch comes with me if I know I won't make it through the day.

Why would you wake a 4 year old thread like this?

It makes a big difference when comparing battery life from iPod touches to iPhones. An iPod touch doesn't have all the same radio antennas an iPhone has so it is able to get great battery life. Put your phone on airplane mode and you'll see.

I dont know how peoples iPhones can last more than a day unless they just aren't using them, mine is usually dead by 4/5 if i haven't charged it yet.

Once a day overnight at a minimum. I typically plug it in any time I am near a charger, which includes in my car. I typically listen to podcasts at work, so I plug it in there as well.
