I almost never use Siri... I find I have to make an effort to use Siri if that makes any sense. Siri is amazing I just need to incorporate it into my routine a little more.

A hell of a lot more than I thought I would. I was one of the people on android calling it a useless gimmick that I would never use. Then I got an iPhone 4s and I can't imagine life without it. I use it every day multiple times a day. Whether its reminders, location, searches, calculator, facts. It's just so damn useful once you have the idea in you that you could use it for this or that.

From what I've seen, most of the people that call it a gimmick or don't use it just don't know how to use it. I know people that literally just used it for voice dialing and thought that was advanced, then I showed them what it does and they were just blown away. Seems like the smallest thing, but reminders is my favorite app of all time

Seldom. People, here, who claim they are using it all the time have more patience than I do. I do use the text to speech function when driving but Siri has really degraded in the Florida area over the last few months. You ask a question and nothing happens for over a minute and then she it "stupid".

Do not think it will work like you see n the ads, in fact there are several lawsuits claiming they kinda oversold Siri. Apple will claim it is Beta but that does not excuse it getting worst instead of better.

Exactly. It's too slow and really doesn't perform as I expected. Half the time I just get half a screen that is blank where the Siri mic and all should be. That's why I slowed down on trying to implant it into my life...

Yes, you can do all of that typing, using Google Maps, etc. This was just simple and easy. And I think that's the point. It doesn't necessarily replace anything, it just makes things easier to use.
And as I said in my original post, I had no intention of upgrading to the 4s and certainly didn't feel the need to do so simply for the sake of Siri. But it was very convenient and useful.

What do you drive? There seems to be too much ambient noise in my car for Siri to work with even a semblance of reliability.

I don't. Not unless someone says "is that an iphone with Siri" then they normally want to give it a try.

Never.

It's no good for texting as you end-up having to go through correcting all the mistakes before sending - just as quick to just type it out.

Commands like "What's my day like tomorrow" etc. are very particular and quite pointless.

Unfortunately, you can't perform any system commands to save time instead of sifting through endless menus (for example "Switch on wifi" or "Open Angry Birds" or "Take photo" etc.)

I tried it for a couple of weeks but have now turned it off completely.

Used it once when i first HUP'ed to a 4S. Never bothered to use it again. Just like facetime.

I barely ever use it. Much less than I anticipated but I probably could use it more. It works with my cars bluetooth so I probably should. I am just used to using the iphone differently since Ive been using one since the iPhone 2g. I need to change my habits.

I started reading this thread before I left for work this morning, and I decided to give Siri another chance, because I had pretty much come to the conclusion that's not helpful.

As I attempted to engage with it today I was reminded why I don't use it. It has (for me) an odd rhythm; it's slow to respond. If I stop to take a breath while I'm dictating, it decides the message is complete and it cuts me off. (I like Dragon much better for dictation.) And it misunderstands my instructions often enough that in the end, it's not much of a time saver.

I will say that it comes in handy when I'm driving. But for the most part, eh.

I use Siri a couple times a day on workdays. It is very helpful for me when I'm driving (I drive a manual).

The reminders and text message features are what I use most. Also with some of the jailbreak tweaks there can be some nice additional commands for settings.

Its a shame Apple didn't include a speech rate setting for Siri. For example, on my Android phone, I can go into the speech settings and change the speech rate from very slow up to very fast. I use normal though. Its just in beta, so maybe Apple will include that in the next iPhone. I use Siri fairly often, even for simple things like browsing the web.

Rarely.

I think I can count on one hand how many times I've used her. Usually I forget I even have Siri when I'm adding a new event to my calendar or setting a reminder.

I honestly don't see how anyone gets anything done with Siri. I have been told I have a "radio voice." I've been podcasting for nearly 7 years and a public speaker for several years so I think I have a fairly palatable voice.

Here's what happens to me:
Me: "Tell Don Bolt Candlebox April 11th 57 Main"
Siri: "I did not find Don Bowl in your contacts. Did you mean Don Bolt?"
Me: "Yes."
Siri: "Here is your message to Don Bolt: Candlebox April 11th. Would you like me to send this message?"
Me: <sigh> "Yes."
Siri: "Message sent."
Me: "Tell Don Bolt 57 Main"
Siri: "I did not find Don Bowl in your contacts. Did you mean Don Bolt?"
Me: "Yes."
Siri: "Here is your message to Don Bolt: Main. Would you like me to send this message?"
Me: "No!"
Me: "Tell Don Bolt 57 Main"
Siri: "I did not find Don Bowl in your contacts. Did you mean Don Bolt?"
Me: "Yes."
Siri: "Here is your message to Don Bolt: Main. Would you like me to send this message?"
Me: "No!" :(

I would use Siri more but she makes me wait too long. I had occasion to travel and use it in Nashville and it worked like a charm. I hpe we get more capacity in NY

I use Siri everyday during the week to set/disable my alarms. I would set it for certain days but working in retail has them different each week and it's just easier to set my alarm the night before. Other than that I hardly ever use it.

Its fun to demonstrate SIRI to your (non 4S) friends.... But otherwise pretty boring for me.
