I have the SS S8, which I bought at launch.

I have been very protective of it, and it’s flawless.

How about you?

I have an AW6 aluminium bought in November 2020. Got AC+, and scratched it severely after 6 months. Since Nov 2021 it was replaced and I wear a protective case most of the time and didn’t scratch it any more.

Where were the scratches?

Did it occur during an event, or do you mean it accumulated several scratches over a period of time?

The scratches were on the screen. Very visible and wide. They were accepted as damage covered by AC+ (with integration). I think there were two main events: a scratch with a wall while working in the house and others while swimming in the pool.

I’ve the S7 SBTi since launch day. Never had any screen protector nor a case. It’s still in immaculate condition. Not a scratch nor a ding the last time I looked closely.

The titanium & SS are meant to be more sturdy. Also, stronger glass/screen.

I wonder if this makes any difference, when comparing to the aluminium?

For sure the metal and the use of sapphire crystal helped. I’ve had aluminium models before and they have scratches and scuffing within a year.

I bought my Ultra in November and it’s in perfect condition. I’m careful with it. No case or screen protector but I do have AC+ and I wear it ALL the time.

Got a series 6 in 2020 after having a series 0 for 5 years - I'd expect the series 6 to last me another three years. No case or screen protector, the edge of the screen and the casing got a few small scratches and dents, but nothing I notice in daily use.

I have had a Series 6 for 2.5 years, I babied it and it was pristine for a while but over time it has picked up a couple hairline knicks and scratches—nothing too bad but it is inevitable.

One thing I am curious about for other watch (and iPhone for that matter) owners, does the oleophobic coating seem like it's worn down over time? I swear the screen holds onto smudges way more than it used to.

I’ve had my S8 since launch, but I’ve replaced it twice via Express Replacement since I damaged the case once and my toddler got hold of it another time. So my current S8 looks and feels new, for now.

I also have a S7 SS that I wear occasionally, and thankfully that is still in mint condition.

S3. Bought new when it was new. It still works. Battery lasts just the day, but it does what I need/want it to do. I see no reason to upgrade it while it still shows me messages and email snippets, tracks my walks and gives me weather alerts.

40mm Series 6 bought many months after launch. On my second screen and there are dings and chips on this one. I guess I treat it pretty rough, by which I mean I live my life without worrying about my watch.

Would love the Ultra for some extra strength and battery (mine will just last a day unless I do things like play music or track long workouts) but it looked ridiculous on my wrist.

The Ultra is my third AW and I beat up on all of them. No damage to any of my AW, and I am the antithesis of protective of my tools. I just use them.

I really like the Ultra much more than the previous models. But I am 6' and 195#, so the size is appropriate.

Refurbished 42mm Series 3 GPS from February 2018

It barely keeps up and is only useful with a watchface, Apple Pay, , and setting timers if it's in a good mood. Couple of scratches on the glass an aluminum body. Battery lasts almost 2 days because I turned off raise to wake (didn't work that well in the first place)

Nearly four years old. Mine is a launch week series 5, aluminum, worn daily since I've owned it, and charged overnight. Battery health at 84%. A minor scratch or two on the crystal, really only noticeable in bright sunlight. Only obvious "patina" is that the colors on the fabric sport loop band have faded.

Series 7, bought it just after launch and it's pristine. The Series 3 I replaced with it was also pristine when I upgraded.

Still have my S5 which works relatively well. Still get 1 day's worth of charge even when using the fitness app. Battery health is down to 85% so nearing time to get a battery replacement for $79 instead of buying a newer model. Always kept inside a case which takes the brunt of daily use. Finding an OEM 44mm sport loop is getting harder and more expensive as the 3rd party band versions are cheap and flimsy.
If Apple ever releases a future iWatch with a blood pressure sensor, that would be a quick buy upgrade.

S4 since launch. Quite a few scratches, battery still lasts full day most days.

I will retire the watch when S9 comes out.

My S8 is half a year old, and working great. I have a S4 too which bought a couple of years ago and no issues so far except it's much slower when opening an app.

my Apple Watch S5 is half a year old. Replaced with a new(or renewed) S5 after the old S5 (purchased when it was released) battery health dropped below 80%.

Planning to get this year's Apple Watch Ultra if there is a new darker color.

I have an Apple Watch Series 6. Brought it at launch. It’s in excellent condition. Sometimes I think the battery is dying but then it goes back to being okay. Still love it. Never had a screen protector, use it every day. No noticeable scratches or marks that I can see.
