With rumours of a new iPod potentially being announced tomorrow, I thought it'd be interesting to know how old some peoples pods are - i have a 2nd gen iPod 20GB (still going strong) which i got the first week they came out after my 1st gen click wheel model died.
Anyone else still using 1st or 2nd gen iPods?

No, I'm using my a 1st gen Nano that belonged to my brother It's about 1.5 years old. Scratches and quirks aside, I wouldn't trade it, except for a new iPod :p

I was using a 2nd Gen 20 Gig up until a few months ago when I grabbed a used video iPod. I really enjoyed using it though.

I am running a 15 gb 3rd gen that makes lots of random spinning and clicking noises when I turn it on. Haha.

I am ready to buy an iPhone/video iPod tomarro.

sold my 1st gen nano bought a 2nd gen maybe a week or 2 after they came out... so what? 6 months?

I got my iPod Photo in May 2005, so that makes it almost two years old...
My iPod Shuffle on the other hand is hardly 2 weeks old.

- 3G 15GB iPod - coming up to 3 years.

- 512MB 1G iPod shuffle - pretty close to 2 years (ordered the day it came out at MWSF)

- 4GB 2G iPod mini - about a year and a half, not sure, my Dad found it when he was out walking.

- 1GB 1G iPod nano - about 6 months old.

- 30GB 5.5G iPod - 1 month and one week, bought during the 1st December sale and got it as a Christmas pressie.

I had an original 20G iPod, but when I was talked into returning it for a replacement battery to extend the operational life on a single charge, I received a 2nd generation 20G unit instead. It works great, lasts longer, etc., but I still wish that I had my original unit just because it will probably be a collector unit some day.

About three weeks old for my 8MB Nano. All the older ones I have given to friends. I think the 2nd Gen has died by now, but the other two I've given away are still going strong.

My iPod (15 GB 3G) is the same age as my 15" PB - 2.5 years old, and both are still going strong. Gotta love the longevity of Apple products!

my 2nd gen ipod nano should be coming in the mail in a few days. Here's to hoping that MWSF doesn't bring new nanos.

My 20GB 3G iPod will be 3 years old this April. She's still working great and has retained practically all of its original battery life! Unless Steve wows me with something tomorrow I don't think I'll be buying a new one any time soon.

My first gen iPod (the original 5 gig) died sometime just before the introduction of the Nano (Nov 2002 - Jul 2005), so I purchased a first revision Nano the day it was released (Sept 2005 - present).

I guess thtat makes my first iPod (after various fixes) 33 months old, and my current iPod 16 months old.

Safe inside one of those armored cases, my nano looks like it will last for quite a while.

That's quite a collection you've got there - will you be adding a touch-screen video iPod to your collection if they come out?

Gawd no, I don't have the money.

I only bought two of those. My Dad found the mini, handed it in to the cops and we got it back 8 weeks later after nobody claimed it so he gave it to me. I won the nano in a survey at Uni on my graduation day and the 5.5G was a present from my folks.
