Current A5 device still in Apple store

Iphone 4s
Ipod touch 5
Ipad mini 1st gen
Ipad 2

devices with better chip

Iphone 5C
IPhone 5S
Ipad mini 2
Ipad Air

I say 50% aint bad. most apps still gonna support A5 at least for another year or two. Once you get the touch with A6/A7, Iphone/Ipad would have gone to like A9. Dual core cpu in Touch 5 pretty much can play any game in the appstore now so no point of waiting.

I suggest against Iphone 5c because Ipod touch is more sleek and better material. Contract free you have to add like 300usd to get the same capacity for the 5C.

Given my old v4 is running everything OK for my son, i'd consider my now year old v5 to still be pretty up to date.

Runs ios7 fine, just like my iPad3. Still love the design!

I caved...

I bought the ipod touch, but honestly I'm returning it and here's why:

- It is noticeably slower in regular usage i.e. mail/safary when compared to my iphone 5s
- iOS7 has hiccups at times. Some of you have claimed it runs smooth etc, but in comparison to my iphone 5s there are definitely hiccups

I understand the new iPhone 5s has the A7 chip, but my original concern with the ipod touch was how future proof it would be. Initial reactions from it i.e. having it for a few hours essentially told me sinking $300 into a device that MAY be future proof for 1.5years is silly. Since I typically use iPods for 3-4 years before getting a new one, this doesn't seem like a wise investment.

Thanks all and I hope my feedback/impressions help others who may be on the fence.

Nexus 5 came out yesterday.

Unlocked (close but not quite) top of the line FIVE inch 16G phone for $350.

I'm tempted but do NOT need another device right now.

:apple:

The Touch 5 came out last year.

Don't listen to those who say wait. The Touch is always behind the current technology and, if your waiting for the next update before getting one, you will always be disappointed. Besides, the current Touch 5 runs perfectly under IOS7 even though the Touch contains older technology.

There's no reason to wait. If they didn't introduce one for the Christmas buying season, they're not introducing a new one until at least next year, likely in the fall.

also WTF was Apple thinking when they sacrificed the in line volume controls for the iPod touch to save $0.50 in their manufacturing costs? They got rid of in line volume controls on a device they market as the best MP3 player? I believe we're entering a new era of apple. this type of crap could not have occurred when SJobs was around. ridiculous.

You can buy the iPod touch 5, it's a great product, and runs iOS7 well, I have one in slate. It has same specs as iPhone 4s (USD 450 Unlocked) but the same big screen as the iPhone 5/5c/5s.

You can sell it off in time next year, around September and buy the iPod Touch 6 then.
The iPod touch 5 might be on a slight discount at the moment as well. It's USD 390 (MRP/MSRP) here, but I got it at around USD 300. ;)

Edit: Just read that you are giving it back. Please do try turning off 'Reduce Motion' in the General > Accessibility settings.
