How Photos for OS X Handles Content and Metadata Migration from iPhoto and Aperture

Can anyone please let me know if they are able to sync their IOS devices with Photos via USB cable/iTunes? Mine is still the same (see screenshot earlier post) and have not received an answer on the Apple Discussion forums either. My library is 210GB and I have no intention to manage my library via an expensive monthly subscription Cloud service, how good it may be. Don't get me wrong, I love Apple, all in our home and at work is Apple but what has happened with the "it just works" philosophy?

I took the above problem to the Apple store genius but apart from confirming that all my hardware and system software is up to date there was a large blank and no one really seemed to have any clue.

When I activated iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone, the system warned me that syncing through iTunes is not supported anymore. You may need to turn off iCloud Photo Library on your iOS devices if it is active.

Thanks theBB but indeed it is already switched off.

Apple has been in touch after they read my Apple Support pages posting. They confirm it "should" be possible. I have just returned from another visit at the Apple Store where their top level Genius (if such a thing exists) wanted to see it for himself. Rather worryingly, neither he nor Apple head office has an answer for why this isn't working.

To summarise, I connect my iPhone 6 (all up to date) with my MBA/iTunes via USB cable. The sync tab under the iPhone allows me to sync my photos via USB and I get a dropdown menu to chose from iPhoto or Photos Sync. Both libraries in same location but iPhoto works, but Photos says there are 0 pictures and won't sync...

The Apple genius was going to try it himself tonight at home. He has my number and has promised to phone. In the meantime my question remains. For those of you who do not use the Cloud for storing pictures could you please confirm the sync is working for you as described above. Thanks

Sharing Photos

When sharing photos to the internet, the Title/Description is not uploaded on FB/Flickr; which means all the captions you do for your photos will not be uploaded...
