I wear size 30/29 wrangler brand jeans and it fits in my front pocket just fine. Big difference in weight and size compared to full size pad.

How the heck do you fit an iPad any jean pocket? I can't stand my iPhone in my jeans, and I don't even wear skinny fits. You must be wearing some kid of super-relaxed fit.

The main difference I see with my mini in my pocket and an iPhone in my pocket, is the mini does not go all the way to the bottom of my pocket but the iPhone sits all the way to the bottom. My pocket seems to taper off towards the bottom. The mini sticks out above the pocket about 2.5 inches. Yesterday and today I keep testing it in my pocket and it is not uncomfortable for me at all.

Curious as to which model of iPhone you can't stand in your pockets?

I have a Nexus 7 which is even more portable than the Mini and other than cargo jeans, I would not put it in any other pair of pants.

About cellular, you never know when you may need it till it happens unless you have data access with something else but then you are carrying two things.

I've been carrying my mini in my inner jacket pocket since I got it last Nov. But, since Spring could arrive in Minnesota any week now, I need to figure out something else. Might have to look into a man bag (hmmm, that still sounds like something else to me  ).

Regards,
Tom

Apple should delve into a clothing line to carry around their stuff, especially for warm weather.

300 grams=approx. 10.71 ounces (300/28)

Reminds me of when I do construction, most framers use a 21 ounce to 28 ounce hammer. I had a titanium hammer weighing 14 ounces. The 7-14 ounce does not seem like much, but is very noticeable when comparing the two hammers. Using the heavier hammer once is not a big deal, but a lighter hammer can save wear and tear on joints over time. The same can be applied to a backpack loaded with numerous items, 300 grams less can make a difference.

Looking forward to see when apple can get the weight, battery consumption, and charging times lessened on the full sized iPads.

There is a big difference in how noticeable the weight difference is for items you hold in your hand, and items you keep in a backpack. If you were talking about the difference between holding a full size iPad vs. iPad Mini in your hand, then your hammer analogy works. I don't think the analogy works when comparing what it feels like to have them in a backpack though.

To each their own. Before buying the mini I completely agreed with what you are saying, after getting it I was surprised how it fit in my pocket. Standing up or sitting it is very comfortable in my pocket. I wouldn't work with it in my pocket (I am a mechanic), for fear of breaking it but off work, driving, shopping, I have it with me (in my pocket).

Can you post a picture?

Ha, spring in Minnesota....if you couldn't tell I'm also a Minnesotan.

My mini is so convenient. You really can take it anywhere and have all of the information that you need.

An "everywhere device"? The iPad Mini is not a phone - so that means you must carry a phone if you are that type who needs to be constantly connected to the world. The mini is way to large for any pocket of mine - so if I had one, which I don't, I would have to carry it in a backpack. And if I am going to "lug" around a backpack all day, I might as well have the largest tablet size money can buy....

It told me something when I went into the Apple store and saw all the geniuses had iPad minis as their personal devices in their pockets.

Had to lift mini upwards about an inch to reach volume button (to snap picture).

Well, it does fit. And with a case nonetheless. But I can't imagine it being comfortable having something so big in your pocket over long periods of time.

In my opinion, I would recommend to carry either an iPhone or an iPod touch. The iPod touch would give you all the functionality if the iPad mini (except 4G, which it doesn't look like you have anyway), with the portability of the iPhone (especially if you don't want an iPhone for what ever reason).
