I have been using the below frameless case for my iPhone 13 as it gives me the feel of using a naked phone

While I’m very happy to use my phone like this, I still have fear as I’m uncertain about safety of my device.

Please suggest.

Thank you!

Safe from what? It might be adequate to protect it from minor scrapes/scuff marks caused by being in your pocket or sliding on a table. It will be of little help if you drop it.

Safe from the scratches/breakages on screen (I have a screen guard attached) and on the back case in case of any fall.

There is no absolute safety. The iPhone is a tool to be used, at least to most. You will replace it in x amount of years. It’s not meant to stay forever.

It’s relatively safe due to the bumpers on the corners. The only way you could cause scratches to your device is if you dropped on an uneven surface as there is no protection to the sides.

It’s obviously less protective than an average case but your phone should remain unscathed barring any disasters.

Thanks, your response gave me more confidence

I also have below case, but this doesn't give that feeling of using a naked iPhone

Can we know why do you suggest not using a case?
I suppose it depends on the person. I have never used a case since the iPhone 3GS. I have never dropped or even scratched the phone. I think it is a waste to make your expensive phone heavier and bigger and uglier. You think you protect your investment with a case, but by putting a case on it you have already "ruined" it to some extent. But if you tend to drop or scratch your phone, then of course use a case. So it's like a to each his own kind of thing.

Interesting perspective and glad to know you are using your phone without a case and your have been successful for several years. May I know what is your latest phone and how long you have been using that? And what is the condition now?

iPhone 14 Pro since launch day. No case. Like new.

Great, I cannot dare using without case. But you gave me enough confidence to use it with at least a frameless and minimal case. And I’m already using and feeling so happy.

Finally can you give a couple of tips for keeping my phone scratch free irrespective of using a minimalistic case?

This is begging to smash the screen if the phone drops at an angle. Screen protectors go very little to protect the iPhone screen from a fall.

So you're saying if there a fall from side, the screen will get scratched though it has screen protector. Have you ever experienced this?

If your phone lands on a corner which is unprotected, your screen will crack whether or not you have a screen protector. I am a dedicated case user as I want my phones to remain immaculate throughout their entire life and I despise dinks and scratches & I have never had a cracked screen or any damage sustained to my devices despite dropping them fairly regularly.

The case you are using is a good design insofar that damage is very unlikely to occur, but obviously not impossible. The case you have provides a good balance between aesthetics and protection.

I went the other way and went for full protection with a 2 part sealed case so that I can have piece of mind as I refuse to waste money on AppleCare+.

Completely agree but I still do not have a peace of mind if I go for full case as I do not feel naked touch. Unable to decide

It’s a compromise you have to make as you cannot have a naked to the touch case and full protection. You have to look at your own lifestyle and assess whether or not your phone would be safe in its current case.

This is my case which obviously makes the phone a little heavier and bulkier but does provide full protection and peace of mind. I have had 2 bad drops, once on a hardwood floor and once on a concrete pavement and the phone, and the case, is still in pristine condition.

I love these kind of cases, especially with today’s ever larger phones. This type of case not only provide less bulk, it doesn’t add the width of the phone. And it allows you to still feel the sides of the actual phone, providing partial appreciation of the phone’s design without going all naked.

Protection wise, since the corners are still protected, it works great as those corners are the major culprit for severe impacts. I have been using these kind of cases even with my iPhone 7+ without problems.

Your best bet is the phone dropping on the corners where there is protection. If the phone drops on the side, there is a good chance you may crack the screen. I have seen what happened to my wife's phone in the parking lot. Dropped out of her purse, took a bounce on the side, it cracked the screen close to the sides. She had a screen protector. I personally have always used transparent cases with protection on the side, but never a screen guard.

Bumper cases offer almost no drop protection. It may seem like the corners are protected, but they’re not. You need a dual layer case like the one pictured earlier for any safety.

Just like a bicycle helmet, you need two layers. With one layer, you’ll end up cracking something.

A bumper case looks like it would tend to pop off easily upon hitting the ground.

.....................and what it lands on, and how far.
Carpet? Concrete? A rocky stream bed or trail?
As has been said..............Lifestyle has a lot to do with it.
