A screen protector won't protect your screen from breaking when you drop it. That would be like laying a plastic bag on the windshield of your car then driving into a brick wall. Your car window would break. Your iPhone screen will break.

That's why I said "cases or screen protectors" .. cases to protect the glass from shattering, screen protectors to avoid scratches. A simple bumper plus a film can keep a phone in mint condition, but some people prefer a scratched up, ugly phone. To each their own, I guess.

I dropped mine and it bounced down a road less than an hour of picking it up (very careless I know). I picked it up fearing the worst and there's not a mark on it.

If you are very haphazard and don't have insurance case it up.

If you are reasonably careful but a little scared, go for the bumper. It detracts a little but it's not to bad and that ring of rubber will pick up the worst of just about every drop.

Otherwise, they are pretty tough and insurance is there for those times when accidents happen...

Whats the point though? Would you buy a pair of shoes but not take them out of the box in fear of getting them dirty? Would you keep your laptop in a rubber case to protect it from damage during use?

I don't understand why people spend $200 on a phone then throw it in a case, put invisible shields and screen protectors all over it, then buy another one a year later. Whats the point? Are you saying Apple could sell you a rubber phone and you would be just as happy with it? Lots of design time went into engineering a nice looking device and it is thrown in ugly cases because the owners aren't careful. Its a pitty. Apple should stop doing aesthetic design since it doesn't matter to so many people.

Can anyone confirm that the Zagg full body protector, covering, as it does, the full body, provide a solution to the reception issue?

If my laptop was made of glass, then yes. The way the iPhone is designed, it's extremely fragile. I would definitely prefer to keep it naked since it looks gorgeous, but since I know it scratches and shatters very easily, I'd rather deal with minimalist protection. Like I said, a bumper or a film doesn't look nearly as bad as a scratched up phone, IMO.

+1 100% agree with you! BTW I sold my scratched up 3G on ebay for $200, so it doesn't really effect resale.
