Grab the new Handbrake 0.9.0 user the presetting for iPhone on the side. Change the bitrate to 2500 and rip away.

Looks fantastic and takes about 45min with a 2.2Ghz MBP

2500 bitrate? You're wasting a phenomenal amount of space there. For a 480x320 display (which would be 480x204 in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, which is bordering on standard at this point) and H.264, I wouldn't bother with anything higher than 1250 or so for the video, and 192 audio in stereo AAC. Anything higher than that for video, and you're not going to notice the difference. Even at full resolution, 1500 is about as high as I'd bother with.

Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP1

Does it work with SP2?

I'm not completely sure (Mac here of course), but I don't see why not. Just try it out, and see what happens.

Am already trying it. Am trying to encode a mx riding manual I have, problem is it says the duration is only 00:02:59

The DVD itself is around 50 odd minutes. What am I doing wrong? But it's almost done, so I'll see when it is. I can still view it on my laptop in MP4 (iphone setting) right?

You may have the wrong title selected. And yeah, you can watch the video in Quicktime or iTunes after it's finished.

Doesn't give me any titles to choose from, just the default (all)

Does it play okay in Quicktime? If not, you might have a bad file. If it does, that is very perplexing.

Tried opening with quicktime and gives error, that .mp4 isn't a file that quicktime understands. ??? huh?

Is Handbrake not working correctly? It says part 2of2 100% finished. I then close the black box and it says its finished.

Part 2 is almost done for me (well another 2 hours). It has been running for almost 12 hours!!! I really hope it works when it's done. I'm sure i set it correctly. I woke up in the middle of the night and since i was up, i checked it. Half asleep i was, i saw the mp4 on the desktop and double clicked it. Error that it wasn't a movie file. Hopefully that is just because it wasn't done yet. If this doesn't work, i'll try that other software someone else suggested in the thread.
