MS Office does this...I am not sure how to in others (Text Edit for ex).

You can use services to navigate to and email files.

BUt, when I have been working on a file, and I want to email it to a some one (without closing it an and navigating to it) HOW DO I DO THAT?

Thanks,

I think you can go to Print and hit Print to PDF and Email in the bottom left of the that window.

It'll make a PDF of that open file and setup a new mail with it attached. Otherwise I'm not really sure what you mean about MS Office does this, but nothing else does.

Click on the title bar icon and drag to Mail in Dock. But, Services->Mail should also work. In the Finder, you can select the file and use Services->Mail.

Otherwise, not sure what is meant by "when I have been working on a file"

edit: I think you meant open in TextEdit? The drag title bar method works from within TextEdit, but the Services->Mail->Send File isn't enabled.

In Office (Word for Ex.) go to file>send to>mail recipient

When your working with a doc or file and want to send it to someone

So, why is the Services>Mail>Send File not enabled, I would think that would be the standard, but I tried your dragging method with success, so thanks for the tip!
