He's thinking that the app checks if there is a VPN connection on the iPad. If the connection is done on an iPhone then tethered to the iPad it wouldn't see a VPN connection on the iPad.
meeting someone in person who has the 1.0 version and having them log into iTunes on my iPad long enough to install the app and then logging out.
Kind of an underground app sharing scenario requiring an actual meeting.

I think I'd have to enter my password for the app on his computer to synch it. Then sign out.In glen cove, long island, so iPad would have to be re synced on their comp?
are you using version 1 or version 1.0.1 of cablevision app?
Coleman and others - this temp sync will work and as a side benefit you won't be able to update in itunesI tried it few times with my friend and shared app works just fine. Only issue I see is CV closing this hole by disabling older version of software from accessing the network. until that happens your idea will work
Forgot one thing. There is no need to drive or go anywhere. This can be done remotely via teamviewer application. Its free and works fast.
