Another oddity to this...

If I install an app directly on the phone over wifi using an account that I created just to test with the app installs and is not deleted off device on a sync even though computer is not authorized for that account. App is not transferred to iTunes on computer.

But...

If I install the app via the computer through iTunes ( needing to authorize the computer for that account ) the app installs onto device. I delete app from iTunes so it should appear like above scenario. Problem happens when computer is de-authorized. On next sync app gets deleted off device unless computer is re-authorized for account that installed app on device.

Any suggestions?

Maybe I am missing something but somehow how an app get installed makes a difference. I think it is strange...

Yep i've seen it before. When I gave beejive to my friend he installed it on his iphone directly. so it looks like we still need to wait for jailbreak and we'll have to use some sort of installer directly on the ipad in order to load version 1 of the app since its no longer in app store

Could someone send me a copy of the v1.0 app?

I have had some random success using the iPhone configuration utility with installing some apps on my phone. Want to see if it will work on iPad.

I'll pm if someone says yes

TIA

I would but I don't want my file floating around the net since it can be traced back to me. if you know how to remove this info let me know

not yet. but can try it shortly

Just tried. 1.0.2 is still dead. 1.0 still works over VPN

Is anyone else getting this message when running 1.0?

"This version of the application is no longer available. A new version with important updates is requirer and can be downloaded from the App Store. Tap OK below, then go to the App Store. Select "updates", find the Optimum App for iPad in the list and then tap the "FREE" button next to it, then "INSTALL."

Yep just got it. and this is exactly what I was talking about in my earlier posts. they are filtering it out on the backend and killed access to version 1.0 from the servers. Now I remember why and how much I hate cablevision
Damn useless limitations and whining networks stupid providers. I really hope all of them go down the flames with their idiotic restrictions and limitations

I believe option that is left now is to wait for Jailbreak and then actually dig inside the ipa and try to see if its possible to spoof their check

I'm trying to see if it will work with the iPhone connected with VPN and iPad tethered using personal hotspot. The only problem is I can't change the IP range On the iPhone to match my home network. I'd have to change my home network to match the IP range given out on the iPhone. Then test it.

Is there any update on VPN issue after jailbreak became available? I couldn't find any patch in Cydia.

now that more people are able to jailbreak, i imagine the demand for a patch for this app is much higher..i know i definitely want it!!

You might want to contact the person who removed JB check from TW app and see if he can do the work on CV app

I have my iPad 2 jail broken now. But cablevision stopped the 1.0 version from working. It tells you to update to the new version.

Now to enable VPN for Cablevision iPad app.

Just wanted to say thanks to Coleman2010 for this write-up. It's working for Time Warner's app, letting me connect via 3G. (There's jailbreak detection in the app too, which "FakeTimeWarner" in Cydia takes care of.) It does not work over external WiFi though... the app complains about the VPN:

Hopefully FakeTimeWarner will get an update some day so that the app will work over 3G *and external WiFi.
