0x33 is the firmware version for the remote you need to get this feature to work.

Cheers.

After updating the Apple TV to tvOS 17, and our iPhone13minis to iOS17.0.1, and waiting two days, our remote software is still 0x113 as it was before the updates. So, it is not updating automatically and we can’t force a manual update. The remote does not show in FindMy, can’t be discovered. Singularly unimpressive.

Have you tried leaving the remote charging? Maybe while connected to the Apple TV.

Did not, but will try. Remote was at 95% charge so didn’t expect it to be drained. But sure, why not and nothing to lose. Thanks for suggesting.
I don't know if it will help. But it would be the next thing I tried. Mine updated fine without being plugged in as far as I can tell.

I got all my remotes to update while I had them plugged in charging, and that was on three AppleTV 4K's. So hopefully that works for you! That should do it, as other people have stated that while charging the remotes will update.

Goodluck Sir!

I currently have a lost Apple TV remote... going to try to update the tvOS and cross my fingers it will push out the new firmware to the remote, wherever it may be...
Sadly my lost remote still hasn't updated its firmware 3 weeks after updating to tvOS 17, remote is still on 0x83. The remote battery level shown in the tvOS Settings app has gone down by 1 or 2% since then (now at 77%), so it does seem like it can communicate with the remote.

I updated my iPad to iPadOS 17 as well and the little find remote icon has not showed up in the Control Center Remote app. Guess I'm just gonna have to find it the old fashioned way! (By cleaning my messy apartment, lol)
