Honestly, it’s really frustrating that a lot of “tech reviewers” and sites like these don’t call Apple out. iOS 11 is one of the buggiest releases I’ve ever endured. People kept saying “Wait for the GM.” Well, it’s here, and it feels completely unpolished. I have random lockup’s and freezes. 3D Touch lagg is utterly unacceptable, there’s an incredible amount of dropped frames just going in an out of apps etc. I’ve done clean installs, installs from back ups and tried 3-4 different devices. Apples attention to detail, as far as iOS, is completely gone. I used to laugh at Android for its quirks, half baked features and sloppy design, now the roles have reversed. Please spare me the usual “My device is blazing fast” or “Yours must be defective.” My devices are fine, it’s IOS that has become a sloppy nightmare. Bring back the fit and finish IOS pre-iOS 7 days.

i've literally had zero issues with ios11 GM on my iphone 7. zero.

The article says to make sure I have a backup on my computer. Is an iCloud backup just as good or should I really change it to be a local backup on my computer?
Any Health Data? If so need an iTunes backup if a restore necessary. Privacy issue. iCloud will Not restore health data. Same with downloaded songs. Second backup not a bad thing. Other then that, iCloud a good backup.

q: anybody knows how 11 it will work with iTunes < 12.7? as I'm not "upgrading" to online backups and new media management... Or are you scre**d if you update to iOS 11?

Hopefully it restores battery life that 10.3 stole
Did it? I'm talking about your experience.

There's a reason. As chris pirilla guy mentioned, they want to be on apple "good side."

Go to the App Store and gently scroll (while letting go) in the Apps or Games section. That lag is just unacceptable and is just one example of iOS lag that still persists in this supposed “zero issues” OS. This isn’t even counting the UI glitches I’ve encountered.

I second this sentiment.

I think I want to do a complete device wipe and sign into iCloud, then download the apps I need one at a time as I have way too many apps.

What do you guys think?

iOS 11 comes with a feature you can enable to remove un-used apps anyway so I would just upgrade and enable those types of features to remove the stuff not being used. (Thats what I did and on a 64GB iPhone 6+ I have 47GB free. Of course I subscribe to iTunes Match so all of my music is in the cloud and not locally stored except for a few songs)

Tips to install it on iPhone 6? It's slower than iOS 10.3.3?
I don't know either. Have a 6 plus and that thing is laggy as all get out. Going to be upgrading to either 8 plus or X but still keeping the 6 plus because of the headphone jack. I guess I'll try it and see and if it is worse than the current iOS I'll go back before Apple quits signing 10.3.3

Or, go to setting, cellular and just scroll and watch the lagg. 2011 Android called, it wants it lagg back.

I don't see any lag in Apps or Games section (iPhone 7 Plus).

That isn't to say I did not experience any stability issues with iOS 11. My issues that are still in GM:
  • Springboard occasionally crashes (black screen with progress animation)
  • Wake occasionally fails (requires few sleep wake cycles)
  • Some apps randomly spikes into 100% CPU utilization, making the phone really warm and use up battery
  • Persistent unread voicemail notifications

Oh god don’t get me started, that is beyond awful. Each iOS version I hope they get rid of that, but nope. How are they not seeing this? They have to test every part of the OS and they somehow think that is acceptable? It is even worse than pre-2012 Android.

Man, I don’t mean to sound rude but I have no idea how you cannot see that. It is a very noticeable judder. It is that bad it looks like a slide show to me. You have to scroll down slowly to see the full lag effect. Just awful. As for the issues you mentioned, I too have encountered those. Considering this is the GM (basically final release) it is really poor on Apples part.

The betas of iOS 11 were always laggy, but the GM is near-perfect. I assume the final build will be polished and optimized further.

No. The GM is terrible. Never thought I’d see the day where Apple pushed out half-baked software and then iron out the bugs for the next 6 months. Unacceptable.

I’m guessing you haven’t seen the new App Store? Scroll down gently in the Apps or Games section and you’ll see it is far from perfect in terms of lag.

A single anecdotal experience--yours--does not mean that iOS has suddenly become a buggy, defective system. Let's compare: I've experienced *none* of the problems you've had (I've had virtually no serious problems on any of the betas, and the GM candidate has been a delight). Thus, extrapolating from my one anecdotal experience, Apple's attention to detail is unmatched and iOS is perfect. There's therefore no reason for these "tech reviewers" to call Apple out.

Good for you. I know I'm not the only one who is experiencing these issues. If you don't see any of these glaring issues then I am truly envious of you.

How much storage space do you have on 6plus? Mine is okay for now.

I do hope you’re joking. iOS isn’t perfect at all anymore and their attention to detail is lacklustre. This used to be the case, but sadly not anymore. I love the features that iOS 11 brings, but a polished experience it certainly is not. A few more point updates may smooth things over though.

I have to questions ones eyesight when they say they see zero lagg. Invoking 3D Touch on my 7 plus is so choppy its disgusting.
