I've been doing this from day one with all our phones. No I don't see anything in that link pertaining to my problem. If I'm missing something pls let me know but I'm not seeing it.

Thx. I've seen that video.

In terminal, I'm typing: sudo nano /etc/hosts

at the bottom of the list I see two apple.com lines. I think I want to delete the #74.... one. I cannot do this in terminal. I can only highlight the line. Hitting the delete button on the keyboard does nothing.

I can't make this file go away. Nor can I type a letter etc in terminal.

----------

In TU, I select my phone under devices. In Advanced tab, I have Save all Avail SHSH and When connecting a device.... are checked.

My phone is still on 4.2.1 BTW (LOL)

Do you have the latest TU installed? There should be under the Advanced tab, "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit" this should be unchecked.

Yes I have the latest TU and yes "Set all hosts to Cydia on Exit" is Unchecked.

I'm at a loss. Do I need to run TSS server? I see 5.0.1 in the saved SHSH list for my phone.

Can something be blocking things for me? I just can't get rid of these files in the hosts folder.

In nano ^k removes a line and ^X exits and asks you to save.
You should also be able to backspace over the line as well.

Can't backspace over it. Control K wipes out my entire terminal page. Command K puts my cursor to the top and removes a letter at a time.

So weird. Despite seeing the files in both hosts and terminal.... I'm trying the jailbreak again and it 'seems' to be working.
just so weird.

Something is either screwed with your hosts or something is blocking communication with Apples servers.
Try the jb on another computer that you never used TU.

In my terminal after I type the sudo command - I see a ton of adobe lines. Not sure what they are or why they're there cuz when I see screen caps of instructs and others doing this to get the gs files out/tweeked - I don't see this.

Maybe my permissions got screwed up or something to make Terminal not work right but I know I ran disk utility yesterday so IDK.

That said - for some reason I was actually able to finally jailbreak the phone LOL

thanks guys!
