I was wondering what I could do to make 10.5.8 feel smoother and snappier on my G5. I currently have a dual 1.8ghz G5 with 5.5GB ram and a Radeon 9600. I'm wondering what I could upgrade to make it not so sluggish.

1) Swap the HD for a SSD

2) Give some idea of how / what you use it for

Most speed tricks produce appreciable results on lower G4 systems - I'd recommend a re-install of Leopard to wipe off the cobwebs. Sometimes, even uninstalled apps can leave running processes behind that slow the system down - run Console to check for any rogue processes that are still active etc.
