It did come in both a white box and brown box. From the listing.

White box mailed in brown box. Looking really good. Value increases significantly for Apple certified refurbished vs. some random dude selling his phone.

—What does “Activated: YES” mean when I checked the IMEI and Apple warranty info (see screen shot in previous post)?

—i asked my provider (straight talk) if I could put my SIM card in and see if the phone would work on ST and they said no.I’m confused how to check that it’s not locked?
—right now I’m not planning on meeting at a cellular store. Would it be a good idea to meet at one so I can have them check the phone?
—can a phone be blacklisted AFTER it is sold? I’m afraid of the seller doing that (I’ve read on several sites that they can activate the iCloud lock after selling)?
Thank you again for your help. We are planning on meeting on Saturday afternoon.

At this point due to all your fears I think swappa is a better option for you. You won't get as good of a deal, but you'll have less questions and buyer protection

Hmm that’s not what I asked, but thanks for the suggestion.

If anyone has helpful answers to my questions, I’d appreciate it. If you don’t, or feel the need to answer a question I didn’t ask, please move on.

Appears to be compatible with straight talk, so I don’t know what they were telling you.

All done! Smooth transaction, phone is all activated and set up. In great shape, no wear that I can see and battery is 100%. Got it for $475! Fingers crossed that the PWM isn't a problem! Thank you again to everyone for your help and guidance!

Keep us posted, because that is too good of a deal to believe! I sold a mint 64gb 8+ this week for $425, and you got way more phone than that for $50 more. If the pwm is a problem you can easily sell it for $600+

Try to forget about the PWM thing. It’s a great phone with a great screen.

I have an iPhone with 5.8” OLED screen, same as your Xs. If I intensely stare at it for a very long time, of course I get a headache.

But that is not caused by OLED/PWM...its just from starring at a small phone screen too long. Was exact same with my previous LCD screen phones. For that stuff I bought an iPad.

PS., get a case for it ASAP. Bigger Xs easier to drop than your old SE. Xs is Glass front and back. Expensive to fix.

brucemr, any case recs? I'm looking at them as we speak on Amazon. Thinking about an Otterbox, or similar. Also, any screen protector recs? I've never used a tempered glass before. Thanks!

Oh, and wireless charger rec?

Be aware of OtterBox cases, although very durable and resilient against dust/water, they’re _extremely_ difficult to remove from the phone, where others have actually damaged the phone because they have such a tight tolerance the way they fit.

I am a bit of nerd on cases as I always get the folio type, with the flap that folds over screen. So never needed or used screen protector. I used various brands of those folio ones. Lasted less than 6 months each. But finally broke down and bought Apple one, was expensive, $100 new, but is a tank. 2 years use and almost no sign of wear.

Don‘t use a wireless charger myself. Only takes 1 second longer to plug wire in.

I was thinking of getting one of their thinner cases, like the Commuter or Symmetry. I don't think they'd be as tight as their super rugged line?

I do leatherwork, so I was thinking of making one. If you ever need another, let me know, maybe I'll have made a prototype by then!

Best way to ‘safely’buy a refurbished iPhone is from Apple. At least you have the peace of mind that Apple stands behind what it sells
While there may be cheaper prices out there you don’t know if Apple parts were used etc Is it a new battery or one from another iphone
Too many headaches when a refurbished iPhone is not bought from Apple. Search the forum and read the horror stories yourself

it was Apple certified refurbished. She had all the paperwork and still was in the small white box. she hasn’t used it yet because she bought the new iPhone in the meantime while waiting for the replacement.

for a refurbished Apple iPhone is absolutely normal to be in perfect shape and with a brand new battery. Great deal.

I just think the PWM "hysteria" in forums like this is greatly exaggerated.

I use the spigen clear ultra hybrid case on my X as well as the Apple leather case. The Spigen has very good protection without being bulky plus it’s clear so you see the phone in full glory. The leather case is very nice and fits well it just doesn’t offer the same amount of protection
