What does Cydia do when you try to launch it and install applications when connected to 3G? It should work just fine.

Cydia says "Could not activate cellular data network" because i'm not connected, because i can't configure my cellular data network settings, because those buttons are on top of the screen and the screen is out of this world.

i just need to get that Activator app to work, but somehow it doesn't happen over PhoneDisk and .deb files install.

Why bother using a half working iPhone?
It would drive me nuts.
Maybe it's time to get it fixed.

i like it this way. squeeze out the last bit of this screen.

if only i could get the grip on that IP of my phone over USB cable connection. so i can SSH it with Cyberduck.
it seems that PhoneDisk is giving "right type of access" to my root diretory.

Is this fix even worth it? What is the quality of experience here even after he gets wifi working? His iPhone is a piece of ****.

From your computer internet browser, go to your wifi router admin panel (must be http://192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or else depending on your router setup), you will find the list of connected clients with their IP address, one of those is your iphone.

You want to be able to download things using Cydia but you can't because your iPhone isn't connected to any network (Wi-Fi or cellular). This means that it has NO IP address.

but there must be the way how you SSH to your phone then? how does the PhoneDisk do it?

i can browse my phone's root with PhoneDisk and copy files to the directory but .deb files won't still install. strange thing is also that i can create new folders but cant delete them.

i'm on the cellular network, means i can make phone calls.
its not the cellular data network, though.

Try iFunBox. It's what I use instead of SSH. It's like a wired SSH so it goes much faster

iFunBox is for windows, i'm on mac.

iPhone Explorer works little tidier than PhoneDisk. explorer can at least delete my created files and folders in my iphone root.

but still, .deb file Autoinstall method doesn't work for me.

is there any desktop app for mac that works similar way like WinSCP? means, you can execute dpkg -i /tmp/yourdebname.deb on it?

good luck w/ your half working iPhone...
Quick question, if the top part is not working how are you going to write web addresses, google everything then bookmark?;), you should just buy the digitizer...

btw, it's 2/3 working phone:)

regarding web address typing, i can rotate phone so the address bar will be out of non-working zone.

no doubt i will get that freakin digitizer from eBay. but i live in europe and it means extra time to get it, extra postage fees, possible toll fees... not fun.

on other hand i just feel very intrigued to find the work around for that thing. it can't be so impossible, as it seems now. there must be the way!!!

Haha this thread=interesting. Even if my phone only had a cracked corner on the screen I'd probably fork out the money to fix it. Good luck.

WOW half the screen I get the digitizer fixed you can find them pretty cheap on ebay and lots of video's how to do if you handy. Or you should be able to find somebody local that can do it.
I can appreciate a long thread with people trying to suggest workarounds when you're trying to get around some pointless restriction imposed by Apple - but when you request a workaround because your phone is BROKEN the only answer is FIX IT OR GET A NEW PHONE!! :D

i really appreciate that huge thread and people who are willing to help here!

as far as it helps to gain some knowledge about phones/software, i find it doesn't matter how reasonable the goal is. kind of sand castle building.

by the length of the thread i can assume it amuses people.

OK, it is fairly amusing, so I will play along :D

There is a cydia app called SBRotator which, if you could find some way of installing it, would allow you to rotate your phone and your home page so that you could swipe along the top (formerly bottom!) of the screen :)

Possible solution of course TS still needs to find away too install it. :p A new digitizer just seems so much easier.kkk I think your part bull dog stubborn. (lol)

got some progress!

i was able to /AutoInstall some .deb files via SSH (sbsettings, activator, rotator) after several reboots in a row.

but they don't still work.

they appear in Cydia Sections, checked off with green, but they are also PINKED OUT. i'mean new app rows have pink background in Cydia Section lists.

looks like they are on half way to full function, but some evil pink holds it back.

any ideas?
