You can't.How do you turn off the apple light on the lid of the macbook pro? (I am a newbie...)
I think they meant turning off the logo light without turning off the display itself, which can't be done. You turn of the display by using the F1 key on your keyboard, as the Apple logo is lit by the backlight of the display.

You're not going to preserve energy by turning that light off independently, even if you could, as it's simply using the display light. You will, however, by turning off bluetooth and WiFi, lowering your screen brightness, and closing other apps and widgets that you're not using.I just want to preserve energy while watching long movies on the airplane...

I only use my MacBook Pro at Starbucks. Usually when I'm sitting at a shade covered table, with the apple logo on my Mac at full brightness, my iPhone 4 to the left of the Mac, my iPad to the right, all while sipping on a Venti Caramel Macchiato out of my green Starbucks travel mug.
I do this so that people will think that everyone using a MacBook Pro is a snobbish ****. We have a reputation to maintain, people!
Step up and do your part.
P.S. On topic....can't turn off the logo.
Oh, and I only pay for my beverages using the Starbucks Mobile Payment app. This is a must for perpetuating the snobbish **** stereotype.
In your particular case though, it's only fair to let people know.I'd love to turn off the logo just so people wouldn't automatically assume I was a snobbish **** ...
