How do you turn off the apple light on the lid of the macbook pro? (I am a newbie... :))

You turn off the display by using the F1 key on your keyboard, as the Apple logo is lit by the backlight of the display.

Why would you want this? Lol how do you think I make haters hate and the wimmenz want me? Of course I'll keep my beacon to my 1k+ laptop glowing :D:D:D kidding of course but I usually keep my display on low anyways so its always rather dim regardless.:apple:

You cannot even see it when using your computer ... why turn it off ... but if you insist.

I just want to preserve energy while watching long movies on the airplane...

You're not going to preserve energy by turning that light off independently, even if you could, as it's simply using the display light. You will, however, by turning off bluetooth and WiFi, lowering your screen brightness, and closing other apps and widgets that you're not using.

The light used to power the screen is the very same light on the lid. Notice if you turn down the brightness all the way, the Apple logo gets darker, and if you bring the brightness all the way up, the logo becomes brighter.

Don't worry, its not using any "extra'' power.

I had to buy a MBP just to develop iPhone software. I'd love to turn off the logo just so people wouldn't automatically assume I was a snobbish **** ...

I heard they were going to change the logo on the MBP and put a silhouette of Steve's head on there instead. :D:D

Get an opaque cover for the lid.

Also, try not to assume everyone else with a MBx is a worse person than you are.

The apple logo is the best part!! I make sure people see the logo on while I am taking outside. some other makes are trying to do the same thing now, such HP.

It makes no sense to turn it off independently, if it were using a separate source of power I doubt anyone would use it unless they were hooked up to a power source or just showing off.

I only use my MacBook Pro at Starbucks. Usually when I'm sitting at a shade covered table, with the apple logo on my Mac at full brightness, my iPhone 4 to the left of the Mac, my iPad to the right, all while sipping on a Venti Caramel Macchiato out of my green Starbucks travel mug.

I do this so that people will think that everyone using a MacBook Pro is a snobbish ****. We have a reputation to maintain, people!

Step up and do your part.

P.S. On topic....can't turn off the logo. ;)

Oh, and I only pay for my beverages using the Starbucks Mobile Payment app. This is a must for perpetuating the snobbish **** stereotype.
