Anyone to allow text messages notifications through if they are part of your favorites? I know the calls will come through but can’t figure out how to allow text messages to come through.

Is there a way to still receive a call or text from a favorite if Do Not Disturb is enabled.

I always thought that was an option.....in a previous os.

An option for calls is still there just like before. Nothing new for messages it seems.

I use DND daily. Is there any way to get rid of the “calls and notifications will be silenced...” on the lock screen? I swipe and remove it and it comes back after awhile.

I have had DND for a long time, I am considering turning it off just to get rid of the lock screen banner.

I'd love DND to be customizable for specific apps - for example I use the Gmail app exclusively for work email. Wish I could DND the app when I'm home but allow notifications from it while I'm on the job.

I wish they would allow a more customizable schedule for “Do not disturb,” such as:

I work 5pm - 3am Tuesday through Friday, (so I schedule DND for 3am - 11am), but Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, I sleep normal people’s hours (during the night), so my scheduled DND does not apply, and I have to remember to turn the schedule off.
I think a combination of the regular alarm feature and the bedtime feature of the clock app will sort this for you - it can act as an alarm, invoke DND, and can have a different schedule to the alarm.

How about just Hey Siri turn on do not disturb for 30 minutes. Nope can’t do it. Or in a related note how about don’t ask me to install an iOS update while I am driving, ya know alllow app update to use location services. But then again those items don’t require a nueral processor, simple needs often the ones most overlooked.

Hi forum, please write in more detail: calls are not only muted, they are additionally redirected to voicemail.
So some callers might get the impression that you have switched off the phone or are in an area with no cellular coverage.
Sadly it is not possible to just let the caller hear the ringing tone while being in dnd mode and being not disturbed.

I’m sure Apple said in the original ios12 keynote that security apps would have an option to bypass DND, so can always get alerts. I can’t find reference to this anymore

I came to this thread just to search for an option to turn it off.......it’s annoying

Me too!

I have do not disturb on permanently. I don't use my phone for calls, ever. All I need is the red badges on apps with updates. (And I'm choosy witth the apps I enable that on.) I don't need any other notifications at all. Having that message on the lock screen makes it easier to disable DND and I guarantee I never want to disable it.

I've always been confused about the relationship between the Silent switch, DND, and the volume. They all overlap in ways that aren't clear.

I don’t understand the difference either if I’m honest. I have my volume dropped down to mute 99% of the time, and also the mute switch on too. (And I disable sound alerts in the settings for each app.)

It would be nice to have a “quiet mode” button somewhere which removes all badges, notifications etc for all apps, enables DND permanently, and mutes the phone. And which forces newly installed apps to install without notifications being enabled. Then I could just manually enable badges on the half-dozen apps where I use them, and alerts on the Reminders app. And have no nagging anywhere about having DND enabled or specific apps (Facebook, I’m looking at you) nagging about not having notifications enabled.

Noticed that too. Must be a bug. DnD does not turn off automatically at the set time. For now you have to turn it off manually then the notification on the lock screen is also gone.

It’s easier to just put the phone on mute.
Just doesn't do various things that DND does.

DND is sort of more about notifications and being able to quickly to stop them in a sense.

DND seems to turn off on time. The others are mostly commenting on the new message on the lock screen.

For me DnD does not turn off automatically at the set time since the iOS 12 update. I use DnD for a long time now and it always worked. Now it's not working anymore and I have to turn it off manually each time. :(

Might want to disable and re-enable it or perhaps even try something like resetting settings.

You can set Emergency Bypass for specific contacts. One for ringtone and another for text tone.

Never really saw the point of do not disturb. If don't want to be disturbed I shut my phone off.

It's mostly for notifications. You don't want to be disturbed by them but still might want someone to reach you (via a call), for example, or you still want to be able to use the device for something without being disturbed by notifications.

They really did write a whole article about something that is more than obvious.

If you think it's fun to wait for the phone to turn on... DND is literally a click away.
