I use DND daily. Is there any way to get rid of the “calls and notifications will be silenced...” on the lock screen? I swipe and remove it and it comes back after awhile.

This. This is a new thing. I hate this thing.

DND is sort of more about notifications and being able to quickly to stop them in a sense.

Ok, but what is a notification? Is the sound the phone makes when I'm getting a call a notification? The fact it takes over the screen? The vibrating? Will it still take over my screen but only if the screen is actually turned on? What if it's on the lock screen?

When a timer ends, is that a notification?

I want a whole table for this. In the columns have all the permutations of DND, Volume, and Silent. In the rows have all the different things that will or won't happen. Maybe point out what settings I can adjust to impact what each of those 3 state variables control.

It's whatever it is that is helpful to you. If I'm watching a video for example I might not want to be bothered by either sound, vibrate, or visual notifications, so just a vibrate/mute switch won't do the trick. At night, I might not want to be bothered by notifications coming in and also making either sounds or vibrating or even lighting up my screen. During the day at work I still want to visually see notifications and perhaps get vibrate alerts but not sound alerts. Etc., etc., etc.

Hoping that Apple gets rid of the DND lock screen notification, or at least gives us a means to disable it if we want. I’ve been using DND for years now and have never seen this annoyance even once until I updated to iOS 12.

The notification wasn't there before iOS 12 and was likely added because the newer phones don't display the DND icon in the status bar normally (so people didn't have a quick reminder to let them know they were in DND mode).

Ditto. We use DND - Always. We have used it for years too. We know DND is on and don't need the DND lock screen notification. We hope this gets fixed soon.
