Might worth reporting here. I finally got HomePod minis work as my Mac speaker without of any lag in any applications!!!

I happen to use a TV with eARC support (LG C2 42) as my main monitor for my Mac, and I'm having an Apple TV 4k sit on my desk for over a year.

Since apple releases the eARC support for Apple TV, I'm able to add my HomePods as the default speakers and passing all audio from my TV through ATV.

This works smoothly without any noticeable lag, movies, YouTube, zoom, etc. Everything works!

Give it a go if you have similar setup.
you happy with a TV as a monitor? I thought we couldn't use TV's as monitors because we'd get burn in?

My beloved Bose companion 5 set up from 2009 have just broken and I'm gutted! Does anyone still recommend the home pods as a computer speaker option? its annoying it doesn't play any computer sounds through them although a minor issue I suppose.
It’s not just computer sound. It’s every real-time sound that will be delayed. You can only stream pre-recorded content through them. You can’t feed any sound from an audio or video call through then because the sound will be delayed.

Oh that’s a bummer! Thanks for letting me know. What’s your computer speaker of choice? Unfortunately Bose don’t make the same pair I had anymore.. seems to be a smaller pair which don’t look as good.

I use the Apple Studio Display speakers. Apple Cinema display and Thunderbolt Display also have very good speakers - actually better than those in Studio Display. And the Cinema / Thunderbolt displays are cheap nowadays on eBay.

Also, Creative Pebble Pro or Creative Pebble v3 are decent speakers for the price. They both have Bluetooth along with analog and USB connectivity options. Funny thing is that Bluetooth audio is not delayed on them.

And then as soon as you view a video the whole sound goes garbled or the video stalls. Seriously why is this still a thing?
