You have to be a special breed of stupid if you can't figure a simple percentage of a bill out or divide by X in your head.
Yeeesh.

If you know the bill will be split evenly, you should order the most expensive thing on the menu. You may as well, because someone has to come out on top.
All Apple Watch models include a stock Calculator app that offers a couple of handy features for working out how much you should tip when eating out and how much each person in a group owes if you're splitting the bill.

The two functions can be used together, but if it's just yourself dining out then you can just leave the People field set to 1. The steps below show you how it works.
Note: If you see a standard percentage (%) button where the TIP button should be, you can change the calculator layout to replace it. Simply go to Settings -> Calculator and select Tip Function instead of Per cent.

I’m ready to get yelled at for my shock that most people can’t at least estimate a 15 or 20% tip in their heads…Do people not know how to use a calculator? 10% tip = divide by 10. 20% tip = divide by 10 and double it. 5% tip = divide 10 and half it. 15% tip = Add the 10% + 5% tip. Bill for 4 people? Divide bill by 4. Bill for 23 people? Divide by 23.
any% tip = divide by 100 and multiply the tip amount. ie 17.3% tip = divide by 100 multiply by 17.3
Wow, just wow.

LOL this makes me think of the part in Willy Wonka where he is explaining percentagesI’m ready to get yelled at for my shock that most people can’t at least estimate a 15 or 20% tip in their heads…
Take 10% (easy) and either add half of that to itself or double it…
“That’s 10% half over again, which makes it 15%”LOL this makes me think of the part in Willy Worka where he is explaining percentages
I knew someone who was so afraid of math, they wouldn’t play any board game that had two dice, because you’d have to add the dice together. Are you sure?Probably has nothing to do with the lack of funding for public schools here in the states. Otherwise, how’s the view from up on that horse?
The United States had the fifth highest expenditures per FTE student at the elementary/secondary level in 2018 after Luxembourg, Norway ($16,500), Austria ($15,700), and Iceland ($15,500).
Interesting, thanks! I wonder how this has changed since 2018 according to that source. It appears States are making up the majority of funding since the Fed is allocating less? Are you sure?

I tip 20% before tax because the tax is a government add-on that has nothing to do with the service.Think after, but now I'm curious. I need to check those amounts they put on the check now and see what those figure off of.
This doesn't solve the problem of one person ordering way more than everyone else, then saying "let's just split it, yeah?"

Yeah there is a sense that they l scoff at the idea.As long as we’re on the topic, I always found it funny when a nicer restaurant acts as though they’re too sophisticated to divide the bill the way we want. When the teenage server at the pancake restaurant can do it, I think the nicer places can do it too. Just because we went to a nice restaurant doesn’t mean we all share a bank account.
… or you can just multiply by 1,tip percentage i.e. Tip of 20%, multiply the bill by 1,2 which gets you the bill plus tip. It’s not hard.Do people not know how to use a calculator? 10% tip = divide by 10. 20% tip = divide by 10 and double it. 5% tip = divide 10 and half it. 15% tip = Add the 10% + 5% tip. Totally agree!True. And thanks.
The method I gave and should have been clearer, 10%, 15%, 20% etc can be done in your head. Dividing for a party of 4 also in your head. When I'm the USA, I general round up to the nearest 10 after the tipping amount and then divide by the size of the party. Much easier. No calculator or smart watch needed.
