You said, "I selected the latest 8.12 Windows 64-Bit driver..."
Which version of the drivers did you grab from DriverHeaven?
60.8 MB - ATI Catalyst 8.12 - Windows Vista 64-Bit
or
48.4 MB - ATI Catalyst 8.12 (x64 Edition) - Windows X64
Thanks!
EDIT: When I try to install "ATI Catalyst 8.12 - Windows Vista 64-Bit" everything seems fine at first. After running "Setup.exe", the ATI Catalyst Install Manager freezes at "Enumerating source media for installable packages..." It's been there for about 20 minutes now, so I assume that's not normal?
EDIT 2: Now I have even tried using DriverHeaven's Driver Cleaner and am still experiencing the same thing, except now my screen looks like crap, lol. It's still sticking at "Enumerating source media for installable packages..."
Edit 3: Nope, it's definitely not normal. I'm not sure what causes it, but a Google search shows a lot of people getting that error. I reinstalled the original drivers and I'm right back where I'm started. I have now even tried the "9-4_beta_win7_64_dd_CC" build from ATI.com. That one doesn't seem to work, either.
