Which is, quite possibly, the dumbest thing Apple has ever done. And there have been a few :)

Opinion only. The touch screen works quite well, I use it very often with JumpDesktop and removing into a four monitor setup at the office..

I tried it with one monitor without the Citrix mouse. PAINFUL. Near impossible. I would never ever try and use it for any work. Too much chance of misclick.

seems to me there is Microsoft remote desktop app one my ipad but not used it.

Use the Desktop connect from app store BUT the last update is over a year ago.

1/2 the time I only use it to shutdown different computer when I forget and don't want to get out of bed to shutdown :)

Touchscreen support in Jump Desktop is adequate but not preferred. I find it better than the other RDP solutions in how it handles touch, and use it in a pinch but when interacting with desktop operating systems, I prefer a mouse.

I guess I have no issue with my four work monitors thanks to pinch to zoom. If I'm worried about what I'm going to click on, I zoom in a little. Works great.
