Have any data to back up that the iWatch is inaccurate? Or that the iWatch will be a major gimmick (what is a major gimmick? Aren't gimmicks decidedly minor by definition?)?

Nope. I'm just assuming that a small jack of all trades will be less accurate than a larger, dedicated device. Besides, when we've added on all the 'extras' such as the watch and blood pressure band/monitor etc, it's hardly a miniturised piece of kit anymore is it? Who is going to carry all that around with them on a daily basis....and who needs to? This is solving a problem which doesn't exist. Did you ever think about buying the products which already exist in the marketplace to carry out these tasks? You're just jumping aboard an idea because Apple deems it time to do so.

Kinda like how the iPhone is a terrible phone, because it has an internet browser.

Well if it still fits on my wrist, yes.

You mean a watch? Probably a lot of people.
....and who needs to?
Need is sort of a weird word to use. I really WANT to though. I probably won't die if I don't, but that's a poor metric of utility.

You mean the ones that don't exist. There is not a single product that does all the iWatch is rumored to do. It doesn't exist. If you're asking me if I bought 5 or 6 different devices to duplicate the function of this rumored one, then no. I don't want to o that when there is an ll in one solution probably coming soon.

What?

You don't have to buy one, but don't hate on everyone that is excited about it. You're free to not wear one.

The watch will need all sorts of gizmos to plug into it, if the purported health features are to work. So, you would need to carry those around.
You say that you wouldn't dream of buying the individual items which currently exist to achieve the same functionality 'because Apple is bringing out an all in one solution'....but what about before Apple decided to release this wonder device? You weren't bothered about them, hence my deduction that Apple are sexing up a mundane feature set that nobody really needs. Of course it is not my place to say that nobody should want the watch, plug-in extras and phone app; I was merely saying that for me it's a gimmick and I can't fathom the hysteria.

To a lot of people a smartphone was a gimmick too and they were more than happy with their regular feature phones…not so much anymore. Whether or not something is a gimmick remains to be seen down the road, when it's actually been released and has been out for at least a little while, that's more or less what it comes down to.

And what if the watch is accurate?

I wear traditional automatic, analogue watches, not LCD electronic ones. The iWatch will be one for the kids and besides, you will have to plug in an additional blood pressure band worn around your arm. I really don't need this, I already have a $150 Braun blood pressure monitor.
I'm not saying that other people don't need it, but alternatives have existed for years.

I think it's fair to say we don't really know what it will provide or how it will provide it just yet, so going off of that--not knowing--there's really not much to speculate on as far as how good or bad or useful it might be.

Also, not sure what analog vs. digital or somehow being for kids or adults has to do with anything relating to watches.

I know what constitutes healthy food, and I also know that exercise is important. I don't need a cruddy app to assist in this department. It's a complete gimmick and will require use of the silly iWatch I'm sure.
I just want a bigger screen, the physical home button to disappear, more RAM and less bugs.

It's not out yet, chill. The rumor was that health book may release this year. But it also said it might be cancelled or the user interface changed. A UI change could mean the difference between an app you'll look at and shrug of or an app you'll look at multiple times a week.
