"51 percent of iPhone sales were made through installment or off-contract plans, 37 percent via traditional contracts and 12 percent with prepaid plans."

And that was two years ago, before we reached the $1000 threshold for a phone. I seriously doubt the 1% of people who buy their phones outright, all visit this forum at the same time and post to the same thread. Call me skeptical.

If you are one of the few that pays cash for your phone, you have my admiration and sincere apologies. Best wishes on your many successes.
I buy a new iPhone full price every year and gift my old one to my parents. This year I‘ll even go ahead and buy 2x iPhone X so yes, outright buyers do exist on here.

Buying out right can certainly be a privilege. Because you own the device and you don't have any ties to the carrier of what you can do with it. And you can also freely sell it or give it away as you please at anytime if you want to upgrade again or change devices.

Buying outright. I’ll be selling my note 8 and iPhone 7 Plus (after I get the X in my hands). I will get about £800 for both handsets. So that means I’ll only have to pay £350 extra for the X.

Why are you selling your Note 8? I understand you want the iPhone X, but is there something that you didn't like about the device?
