15th-20th-ish: Big Christmas shop with the girlfriend. Usually involving a semi-posh meal and cinema.
23rd: The girlfriend's choir have a Christmas carol concert.
24th: Bit of a get together at the girlfriend's place with her nearby family.
25th: Gifts, big meal with our nearby family
26th: Big family party at my aunts place.
31st: Bigger family new years party at ours. Rock Band, Karaoke, buffet, Chinese lanterns and/or fireworks (lanterns make great targets ;)). That kind of stuff!

Fairly typical I imagine!

I plan on spending time with my friends, unofficial family, and my mom. I'll also be cozying up with my beloved Power Mac G5 that I got as an early Christmas present a week and a half ago. Maybe some Diablo II will be in order today.

It's chritsmas eve here, and we ended up with an extra kid....
Well, I'll be spending it unhappily....
Sorry to hear about the problems. I know they're things that y'all can handle, but the timing sucks.

For myself, we had my wife's side of the family and our kids and the grandkids over last night and spent the evening laughing and exchanging presents. It was great. (Anybody want some leftover cookies? Everybody brought some, so we've got tons. :p )

And I have to go into grandpa mode for a second and mention the sheer joy and fun of watching our grandchildren. Two of them are about a year and a half old. One walks around with two cookies in her hand, offering to let everybody take a bite. The other goes to the fridge, discovers a long-stemmed wine bottle laying on the bottom shelf, grabs the stem and pulls and goes BOMP with the bottle on the floor and gives us that "Oh, what happened?" face. :D Our third grandchild is 5, and when the party went past 11 pm she started crying piteously because thought Santa would see they weren't home, and would skip their house.

Today we go to my mom's and do it again, although my side of the family is a lot more sedate. I'm hoping my brother doesn't bring his unruly dogs, but he usually does.

You win! :D

Thanks, we are both pretty happy.

Funny thing is, I put it on facebook right after it happened and I got a ton of comments...but go figure my sister still hasn't logged in, thus doesn't know, thus neither does the rest of my immediate family.

The only person from my family who saw it is my uncle's wife, and everyone is going to their house to celebrate on the 26th, and she said they'd have a toast to us...I can just picture it now, when everyone's got a beer in hand she will say let's have a toast to your son and my old man will be like, "For what??" and she will be like, "Thomas, your son got engaged!..." and he will be like "Well wtf, Christ..." and my sister will rush to the nearest computer and look at facebook. Then my uncle's wife will hound my uncle and dad about how that's the reason they should be on facebook.

I wish I could see a live hidden video feed of her saying that to my dad and him finding out I'm engaged...LOL
