Will you stick to the canonical pronunciation of the Roman numeral that Apple uses in PR, or will you pronounce it as the letter?

I'll go first: It's pronounced "Jif".

Ok, I'll bite. What the hell is a "Jif"? Why not "Anniversary"?

It depends. Generally speaking if someone asks what kind of phone I have I’d say an iPhone.

Seldom do I have to say the specific version. If I did I’d say X which is a Roman numeral for 10 so you’re correct either way.

I keep wanting to say "X" but I know it's wrong so I stop myself and then say "10" but believe me...it's difficult! And I alway have to pause a bit. #BothersomeFacts

Completely anecdotal, but so far my friends, family, and coworkers (all of whom are not very tech savvy) have been calling it “ex”.

I imagine most will be calling it that just because there’s no other context that it’s a Roman numeral, unlike a clock.

Ten, because, you know, that's its name.

I've heard plenty of people who don't know better call it the X though.

That's pretty much what I see as well.

It's hard to associate olde tyme Roman numeral X with a high-tech gadget. Everything out there uses X as X, e.g. Model X, Pixel 2 XL, BMW X6.

All my friends, relatives and colleagues have been calling it the "EX" and I keep having to correct them. I have been and will be calling it the 10.
