There's literally a whole book about all the groundwork laid for the iPhone. It is probably the greatest consumer technology product launch of all time, a huge inflection point for portable electronics. It was groundbreaking, but it also stood on the shoulders of giants.

Convergence had been written about in the tech press for years beforehand. It was clearly where things were going. Had Apple not launched the iPhone somebody else would have eventually got there. The LG Prada came out months before the iPhone and was developed in a complete silo. Convergent evolution suggests that the portrait touchscreen was always going to be a point we would always get to.

Companies had been experimenting with multi touch and capacitive displays for decades. Gorilla glass was sat on a patent shelf for years because it was too expensive for the windshields it was developed for. There are dozens more innovations. Don't take my word for it: read The One Device! I mean, the touch interface was developed as a Skunkworks project using a coffee table for years under Jobs nose because the engineers knew they were on to something but lacked a project to build it into. Remember the iPhone was actually an offshoot of the iPad project they were working on first.

(I have fond memories of my Sony Ericsson T68 and the T68i I later bought with the dorky camera attachment!)

I had the lg Prada phone it was a capacitive dumb phone without multi touch. No web browser, just a phone without a display smaller than a credit card.

I lived it, bought all the phones pdas and mini tablets and used them extensively, some were unusable. 😂

The majority didn’t believe the iPhone could succeed and when it did the press and most of reviewers called every new smartphone an iPhone killer even the blackberry storm, which was completely unusable.

Many don’t know but jobs was criticized and chastised throughout his entire career at Apple and next. It seemed as though everyone wanted him to fail and when he didn’t most took it as a personal affront to their lives.

I'm starting to believe you have no clue how hide my email works. Apple exposed users real email addresses. That's a privacy issue any way you slice it.

Were any of their data compromised?
I actually use hide my email and my email addresses was never leaked or exposed.

A now patched flaw existed doesn’t mean anybody took advantage of it. 😂

That's not on Nokia, Microsoft pulled the plug too early. What they should have done is toughed it out a few more years and really tried to get the enterprise market. It was an awesome OS.

Oh, and they (MS) should have flat out developed an emulator to work with android and/or paid devs to make Windows native mobile apps. They just had to continue to invest.

I agree. Nokia phones and later the Lumia line were excellent mobile phones for the time. Windows Phone OS that ran on Lumia was equally very good. I think MS just did poor job of marketing and paying more attention to their other product lines.

Apple would have to make very poor strategic decisions to go under.

Google can have your data, but you actually pay Google multiple subscriptions and a greater price than an iPhone for the privilege.

In tests with volunteers by the researcher who discovered the flaw, 100% of Hide My Email addresses were found to be exploitable. Sending a targeted Hide My Email user a message that got rejected as spam caused the person's real email address to appear in email logs.

So you've been exposed along with 950 million icloud users. Enjoy your privacy.

But no one took advantage of that patched flaw.

I think you are reaching, the flaw didn’t do anything to comprise a users privacy. All it did in certain circumstances was show the users email address. No user data was compromised. Hence privacy. 😂 😂

What’s hilariouas is that no one’s email address was compromised with the flaw that has now been patched.

When you compare this patched flaw to Google harvesting and selling as much of your data as they can, after paying Google a subscription and or hardware fee, that’s just unapologetically 🤣.

They outsource, but Apple has their own dedicated exclusive manufacturing lines at Samsung display, lg display,Foxconn, pegatron, luxshare etc.

No other oem can use Apple exclusive lines at these odms and suppliers.
