4G is impossible. 1/3 of Apple's customers don't even have 3G.
Support 3G and 4G at the same time will be impossible.:(

He said 4G....not LTE.

HSPA+

If it's LTE, I'll be making akwardly loud yelping noises of excitement from my cubicle at work when it's announced. :p

+1 While LTE would be sweet as candy "4G" will be a nice little upgrade for this year!

Howard Stern...one step above Glenn Beck. Monkeys are further up the scale.

Those that poo HSPA+, it's way better than standard 3G and don't pretend that LTE is 4G either...1/5 the required speed until Verizon started calling LTE 4G and the standards committee gave up to human stupidity.

I was listening this morning, and, to me, the tone of his comments didn't seem as definitive as the OP recalls. For instance, I don't recall Stern saying:

"...that most people dont know about..." or

"...the new iPhone will bs 4G capable and that's a fact..."

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I don't remember those two quotes. He also mentioned the notifications screen as the other major reason he wanted the phone.

In listening to the whole thing, I definitely didn't get the impression that Stern had any inside info.

Yeah I think HSPA+ is more like 3.5g. My phone in the city hits about 8mb/s, much faster than normal 3G. Compare that to an LTE hotspot which hits around 13 mb/s.

Howard only recently became a apple fan, he talked about always hating the iPhone even his co-workers were trying to get him to switch but he said he couldn't leave android. I think all that changed once he got an iPad.

As far him having inside info HA! Because some movie screeners that the movie studios loaned him some how ended up on the net with his name on them. I doubt anyone is going to let him know something that everyone else can't know.

I was listening intently this morning and the OP's "quotes" are embellished. Howard did not say "most people don't know" and "it's a fact." While I believe Howard could possibly have inside info because he and his people are very well connected in Hollywood and Southern California, I think it's more likely that he picked up his info while reading the speculation just like the rest of us.

I know he's well-read and keeps up to date on tech trends. But he's also proven to be susceptible to internet rumors in this area, which he'd be the first to admit. One of the great things about Howard Stern is that, in many ways, he's just like the rest of us...he's reading the things we read about and talking about the things we're talking about. If you can tolerate all the stripper and "pooooosy" talk, he really represents a lot of the same mainstream-type things that we do here.

Oh, and he uses a Verizon iPhone. He is very, very negative about AT&T service...

Tried to buy an iPhone on our local TRADIO but the phone number kept taking me to the Jackie Martling Joke Hunt? Wrong number perhaps?
