Did you hear the crank call he played yesterday where Sal called into a religious show and was speaking in tongues? I nearly pissed myself and crashed my car from laughing so hard.

Funniest thing I ever heard. Laughed so hard tears were coming down my face. :D

He listens to Ralph who is notorious for having completely false information.

That was my thought, Ralph whispering the latest rumors in his ear.

BTW, I'm listening to the replay right now and he said one of the big reasons to get iPhone 5 was the pulldown menu (ie., iOS5 notifications) which of course you can install on the iPhone 4. If I had Howard's money I'd probably buy every new Apple product that was released.

I was listening this morning, and, to me, the tone of his comments didn't seem as definitive as the OP recalls. For instance, I don't recall Stern saying:

"...that most people dont know about..." or

"...the new iPhone will bs 4G capable and that's a fact..."

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I don't remember those two quotes. He also mentioned the notifications screen as the other major reason he wanted the phone.

In listening to the whole thing, I definitely didn't get the impression that Stern had any inside info.

I was also listening when he was talking about the new phone AND, it was my impression that he wasn't so much concerned about 4G...he just kind of threw that out there...but what excited him was some kind of notification page "like they have on Android.... so you can see all of your messages and notices right on the front of your phone." That was his 'deal-maker'. Talked about stealing from Android being OK since all these other competitors have been stealing from Apple for the last few years.

EDIT: from http://www.marksfriggin.com/news.htm#wed <-this guy blogs the entire show and is pretty accurate on what was talked about. He says this about the iPhone talk:

"Howard said he wants to get the new iPhone. He said that this one he has now is pretty good with battery power. He said that it's going on 3 days now. Howard said the new phone is supposed to be 4G speed and he wants that. He said he was thinking about what would make him change phones. He said that some of the features are nice but then he heard about the new iPhone getting a pull down screen like the Android phones have. Howard said that he wants that so he'd go for the new phone. Howard said he's down with the new one so he's going to get one. Howard said he was in line to get the iPad 2 when that came out. He's going to go get a new phone too."

Howard Stern, unfunny for at least 15 years, has no idea about what's coming. He's talking ****, which oddly, is what he is paid to do

Have you noticed that every time you post, you have numerous people add negativity to it? Over the past couple years you've become stuck up and really annoying. What changed?

Wondering who you are if you've known drown for the past couple of years, yet you registered this month?

Howard only recently became a apple fan, he talked about always hating the iPhone even his co-workers were trying to get him to switch but he said he couldn't leave android. I think all that changed once he got an iPad.

As far him having inside info HA! Because some movie screeners that the movie studios loaned him some how ended up on the net with his name on them. I doubt anyone is going to let him know something that everyone else can't know.

Shows how much you know about the show. Howard has no need to pirate screeners...Screeners with his name on them no less....And put them up on the net. What would he get from that besides trouble and bad publicity? It got out because of some geek involved in the return process.

Yes, he is a noob when it comes to Apple products. But he is obsessed with all of it now. I'm not saying he knows anything about the upcoming iPhone. Just wanted to point out what he said on the show. That's all.

He said 4G....not LTE.

HSPA+

If it's LTE, I'll be making akwardly loud yelping noises of excitement from my cubicle at work when it's announced. :p

I was kinda thinking this too. Usually when people mean LTE, they say "LTE". But for HSPA+, they either say "HSPA+" or "4G" (at lest from my observations).

Anyway, thanks OP for the interesting read. Even though you explicitly said not to take it seriously, some people are and they need to chill out.

Ralph is a douche and knows nothing, but acts like this all knowing [H]ard Geeek he is NOT.

I am sure Howard could really find out the truth about the iPhone5 if he truly wanted too, he is a very powerful media guy, I am sure he could press insiders for info if he wanted. But he won't, and I doubt he knows more info than any of us at this point.

Haven't been listening since Artie tried to commit suicide but a baba booey to you all.

Whoa..Whoa...Whoa...STOP THE CLOCK...I wasn't quoting Howard. I was in the shower when it was on and heard him talking about it. I don't know what he said word for word but WITHOUT DOUBT his first reason for getting the new iPhone was because it was going to have 4G..Listen to the replay. He said something about needing more speed and wanting to find out if 4G was all hype or if it really was a lot faster. He said something about wanting YouTube videos to load faster. He did also mention the notifications like on Android being another thing he really liked about the new iPhone. I wasn't being literal. Robin said something about not knowing anything about the new phone and Howard said he's getting it because it was going to have 4G like he knew it was. He wasn't saying it like he had inside info, he said it more like it was common knowledge. And ever since Howard has become addicted to Apple products (when he got iPad2), He has openly said he has (and I quote) "TOP GUYS in the industry" teaching him about everything. And also advising him how to get rid of his "black book" so he could have his whole calandar on all his devices. I don't know who or what he knows about anything concerning iPhone 5. But if you listen to the replay, you will hear him say that iPhone 5 will have 4G and that is the reason he wants it first and foremost. Then after that he says another reason is notifications. If you want it verbatim I will get a transcript and post it.

Geeze...I wasn't trying to start an argument on exactly what he said word for word. Just posted a what I thought was a quick, fun post at 6:45 this morning. Cut me a break! lol

I thought Ralph was the source too. But I think Ralph keeps up to date on iPhone news. I think Ralph would know better then to say it was going to be 4G. Especially if he was just telling Howard what he thought it was going to have.

Hah, I'm a huge Howard fan! Funny to see talk about him on MR.

Honestly, sometimes he can get annoying when he's talking about Apple products.. he can be a bit over the top.

I'm pretty sure any info or iPhone 5 stuff he's talking about is just from rumors online or what people have told him as well. Definitely don't think he'd have any inside info. Probably the 4G stuff will be hspa+ (still can't stand they call that 4G though).

Howard uses a Verizon iP4, so if he was told 4G it would be compatible LTE 4g with Verizon.

Howard is very connected, and I wouldn't discount his info. He is one of the the highest paid entertainers, and has the most successful radio shows in history.

Howard Stern...one step above Glenn Beck. Monkeys are further up the scale.

Those that poo HSPA+, it's way better than standard 3G and don't pretend that LTE is 4G either...1/5 the required speed until Verizon started calling LTE 4G and the standards committee gave up to human stupidity.

Its faster than most peoples home internet connection, so that's fast enough for me, whatever you want to call it. It's definitely a giant leap ahead of current 3G speeds. Why so hung up on terminology, it's only the fastest commercial network on the freaking planet right...what more do you want??

Yeah Howard. Sure thing. Keep telling d*** and fart jokes. baba-booey, bab-booey.

I don't miss Howard Stern at all.

I don't think he does that anymore - it's more Billy Joel, Rosie, Hamptons, Kimmel and asking Robin if there is anything else.

Richard Christie did my favorite prank call of all time on that show. He called some lady who was selling a few items from around her house, but he layered his voice over 3 times asking her about each item all at once.

I'm calling about the basketball hoop you have for sale
I'm calling about the lawnmower you have for sale
I'm calling about the baseball cards you have for sale

The lady was so confused and never asked herself how someone could say basketball hoop, lawnmower, and baseball cards all at the same time. "Wait now, which one are you asking for?" lololololol so clever

I wouldn't doubt that Howard got the scoop from someone. I'm not putting any weight behind it, but it was nice to hear.
Why do people say contradictory things? Make up your mind.

There is zero chance Howard Stern knows more than the rest of the world about Apple's coming products.
