I sold my launch day 2021 14" MBP (32GB / 1TB) about 4 months ago, and at the time, it was 94% / 166 cycles. I hadn't used it that much. And I was fairly intentional about little things like not leaving it plugged in while I wasn't using it, etc.

Having been through a few generations of MBPs and different "heartiness" and "hardiness" of their batteries... feels like the 2021+ MBP generation has fairly average batteries.

I see a lot of low 80s with 350-500 cycles, over 4-5 years. There were eras of Macs where you would regularly expect more. But also recently (like the 2016-2020 MBP generation), that were a fair bit worse. And brought its own set of issues.

Overall, 5 years into its existence, with an OLED/model refresh expected either later this year or early-2027, I think it's been pretty good.

I've been using my 16in M1 MBP since October 2021.

MBP Systems says 82% and Status is Normal. Coconut says design capacity is 77.2% with 1,004 cycles since manufacture on 2011-09-12 and concludes battery status is Good.

Now thinking of replacing. I'm in UK and out of Apple Care for this. Options are Apple Store or local tech shop.

Any sage advice or other comment?

Edit: I have had the Battery Optimiser toggled on.

(I'm about to try that calibration trick that was mentioned.)

99% capacity @163 cycles (Coconut Battery numbers). AlDente @80%, except when I travel, ~every 6 months cycled -> 20% ->100%. Never run out of battery yet, battery life is longer than I ever need.

Mine says "Service Recommended", but I can't find the battery health percentage anywhere (I can on my iPhone, "Service Recommended"/79%).
Could go 2 days on a charge at first (M1 MBP 16"), now I can't quite go 1 day; new battery eventually.

EDIT: I found it, MBP batt at 76%
Six months later, MBP batt at 72%. When I get to the point where 2 charges/day won't do, then I'll do a battery replacement (my original MBA got down to a 90-minute battery life, but that was on its second battery and was >10 years old (it ran hot and the trackpad clicker was toast, so... it was time)).

My 2021 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro is at 94%. Whatever I am doing is working. The machine is used everyday. It has 170 cycles registered.

Been a religious user of AlDente since it was a GitHub project. Does wonders... This system has been used every day for 10-16 hours. I use AlDente to keep it between 60-75%.

I'm going to make you jealous...I just charged my rMBP 13" and it is showing 6033 mAh max charge capacity, when the design spec was 6330 mAh (according to Google search). It is getting on for 12 years old. It has done 98 cycles.
