Got mine launch day in 2012. Battery life extremely poor, had to get it replaced just days after 1 year warranty ran out and they charged me $80. Sigh.

Got mine secondhand at the beginning of the year but I think is a late 2012 model, battery life holding up very well - so well in fact I wonder if it got replaced at some point! Power/sleep button still functioning fine so far as is the home button, still love the 5!

iPhone 5 Black purchased 9/21/2012 - Still working great. It gets pretty low usage since my dad mostly uses it as a feature phone so it only needs to charge every 3 days or so.

iPhone 5 White purchased 9/21/2012 - Replaced in October 2013 via AC+ because of bad sleep/wake button. Replacement is working great.

Launch day white Verizon iPhone 5, which I named it Chip, that I'm using on my AT&T account: Holding up extremely well! :) :) :) :) But I do baby it. I do, however, have one rule: no case. Ever. Just a clear skin that covers back and sides, and a glass screen protector (prior to glass screen protector, just full body clear skin). There are some scratches on the chamfered edges, a "chip" on the top right front chamfered edge that was there since the beginning, and a small abrasion on the bottom right chamfer corner caused from when I fell during a hiking trip with my phone still in my hand (compromised the glass screen protector corner, but otherwise, no other damage; glass and screen is undamaged/uncracked).

Right now, I have an iLoome Flex on my 5, but it is getting scratches far more easily than my previous glass protector. Anywayz, here are a few shots of Chip taken by my new iPad Air, Chip Jr.

FYI, the one left most vertical scratch on the Apple logo was there since the beginning. The rest of the scratches on the logo are on the skin, not the actual casing:

Bought my white/silver in January 2013. So far, so good at almost 18 months. Just a few scratches on the bottom edge near the lightening port from trying to plug it in with an Otterbox on. Battery life is also still pretty good. I usually only have to charge it overnight.

I had mine since launch day, and for the past month it's been sitting on my desk collecting dust. The sleep / wake button failed, and the lighting port failed so I have no way of charging it. It failed a few months after the 1 year so replacement cost is pretty absurd. Jay gonna wait intil the 6 comes out and get that.

Currently using my 4, it's slowww. Might just bite the bullet and get the 5 replaced next week.

I actually had my iPhone 5 replaced about 40 days before the warranty was over. The battery began cutting off and the phone was acting like the battery was dead. Say for example, I'd be at about 40% charge left and it would just shut right off and tell me to plug it in to charge it. I would charge it long enough for it to turn on again and 10 minutes later it would do it again. It did this several times before I took it to the Apple Store.

Long story short, they found really strange activity with the internal power logic and battery and couldn't determine the issue so they simply replaced it and extended the warranty so that I would have 90 days. I wasn't too pleased, but hey. This new iPhone 5 doesn't have any marks on it and the battery lasts way longer.

The exact same thing happened to my friend's iPhone 5 and his sister's iPhone 5, and as of recently, the iPhone 5 of a friend's girlfriend is doing the exact same thing. Has anyone ever had this problem?

I got mine last year in April after my Blackberry died. It is just fine except that from day one it launches apps itself. I have a protector for it and looks like new. Battery is an issue, it is always charging. But I do not think I am going to change it, a phone is a phone for me.

Mine's doing that shutting off itself thing.

Mine's doing that shutting off itself thing.

If it's under warranty they'll fix the battery or replace the phone for free. If my phone wasn't still under warranty at that time, I would've paid $250 for a new phone. I think it's $80 to have a battery replaced if you aren't still under the warranty.

Edges are banged up. Back is scratched. WiFi is a bit bad, so I may take it in for warranty service.

Physically fine. Got a refurb around six months ago but the ear speaker is going out. Most conversations are over speaker phone now.

Thank you, mich! I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. :) The skins on the left side are a little dirty/yellowed as that tends to happen over time, but I replaced the right side recently with a free replacement that Skinomi sent me after I requested one. It's covered for the life of the device, and you can request as many free replacements for the device, free shipping.

Skinomi can be found on Amazon or direct from their website (cheaper on Amazon). If through their website, don't forget to use their 25% off discount code! Cheers. Sent from my MacBook Pro.

Now to "answer@ here on this thread, I am an owner of an Iphone 5 32g (6months old, was exchanged because the batter)! Until now my phone works perfectly, i am only having some doubts on my battery because it is not really working linear. I will check this in a few months before the warranty runs out.
For the rest it works perfecly, really smooth, perfect phone! Looks still new because i was holding this baby in a cover with protection screen!

I've had my white phone replaced twice since launch day.

My current model was made in April 2013. I was lucky enough to get a phone with brilliant battery life in comparison to my two prior faulty iPhone 5's (not replaced due to battery - the first due to busted speaker in the ear piece, plus dirt under camera lens, the second due to no phone functionality working at all).

Aesthetically, it's in pretty good condition. I go caseless, and apart from a couple of minor marks on the back panel, it's pretty much perfect.

I normally upgrade my iPhone every 2 years, however this time around I'll probably stick with the 5 for a while. It's been my favourite phone yet, and I don't expect the iPhone 6 to be a dramatically superior phone.

Got a Black and Slate on launch day, which was notorious for scuffs. My 5 is pretty close to new. No dents/chips, there's some minor anodization rubbing off due to every day handling, but you'd have to look really close.

Never dropped it or bumped it and I use it naked.

on my 3rd iPhone 5. y first one was bought 2 days after launch, lasted until january of this year. the sleep button went out, and shortly after, the charger started acting strangely. took it in and got it replaced. that one lasted a pitiful 3 months. i dropped it and the side got smashed in, but it still worked. then about a month after that happened, it had a logic board failure. all network aspects of the phone died. no ams, no calling, no wifi, no lte. NOTHING! so i took it in and they told me they wouldn't fix it. so i told the manager i was not leaving unless i got a replacement phone since i have applecare plus. he gave me a replacement, and i have it till this day, 2 1/2 months later. no problems whatsoever... so far. overall, i think the 5 has been a great phone, although i highly recommend buying a warranty when buying a new iPhone. i am still using it and look forward to upgrading to the 6 on launch day! :D

I got my black iPhone 5 on launch day. It's still a great phone but looking a bit shabby around the bezels. My battery life is very poor now though. Also there are a few wierd software probs that have really started to bug me. I'm contemplating a platform switch in the autumn.

I had an issue with my battery on the iPhone 5 as well. I'd recommend taking it into an Apple Store and have them test it. As long as the diagnostics show there's a problem, they should be able to provide you with a new phone at no cost as long as it's under warranty.

Not only was the battery a problem but I had somehow scratched the camera lens. I mentioned that to the Genius and he disregarded it.

How's your iPhone 5 holding up this 2014?

Imagine its quite hard to scratch the camera lens, isn't it made of the stuff that can only be scratched by a diamond? I think my other gripe is that I want more than the 32gb storage I currently have, but am loathe to pay £100s more for it. And don't want to rely on cloud streaming to listen to music as I don't always get reliable signal where I live

Everything works except my silent ringer switch failed on me. Has anybody ever fixed one, easy or hard?

Apple quoted me 200+ to fix it, pfft:rolleyes:
