Yeh as you can see that SiriusXM is having background activity and taking 34% of the battery probably that was the cause of making the battery working even on standby so then it gives u more usage even if the screen is off , its just totaly impossible to have the screen on for 14hrs !

14 hours is impossible for an iPhone 6 even if you turn every single feature off , you probably had something runing in the background even if your phone is on standby mode

Very much possible. Screenshot was taken right before I plugged it in to charge, & yes I did have SiriusXM running in the background. I was on wifi pretty much the entire day, & I also used it for other things. I couldn't believe it myself.
My iP6 was previously jailbroken on 8.1.2, but my battery life started taking a plunge so I restored it to 8.2 & setup as a new device. I'm getting MUCH better battery life even when I'm not streaming music in the background.

Still. Quite impressive with streaming audio in the background.

I have a fairly new iPhone 5s (bought about 5 months ago), and since updating to 8.2 my battery life has been suffering.

I thought I noticed it going down quicker, but figured it was just in my head. To be sure, I powered off my phone last night and turned it back on. I then let it charge to 100% and unplugged it about 10pm. I left it sitting on my desk (the same place I always keep it at night), and didn't touch it again until this morning. I looked at 8am, and my battery had dropped to 81% despite no usage at all. I didn't have any notifications either, so it wasn't like my iPhone was doing much work on it's own overnight.

Judging by the other responses in this thread, my experience with 8.2 seems to be unique.

I did the usual and checked what apps I have notifications for, and turned off the non-essential ones. I turned off background app refresh for a few apps too. I'm not sure if that will make a difference because I had those enabled when I was using 8.1 and my battery life wasn't bad then.

Any ideas on what's happening?

There is probably an app that is not letting your phone goes deep sleep it just check and u will find something keeps using the cpu even on standby also try turning off motion and fitness on privacy this will improve for sure if nothing of this works just full restore your phone and set it up as a new one to see if its a hardware or software thingie

Yeah, that's quite likely. I recently had a day when at 55% I was suddenly somehow with 7 hours of usage (and 13 hours of standby), even though I definitely didn't use the phone for even half the time. It didn't seem like anything was stuck or running, but clearly the usage was going up when the phone was just in my pocket and shouldn't be doing anything, at least not constantly doing it.

some app is running. or email hung up. Check usage to see it t pinpoints anything. If it continues a settings>reset>reset network or settings>reset>reset all settings may be in order. That will leave apps and data intact but you will have to enter all wifi networks and go back thru settings to customize to your pref. Oh and wall paper. Pretty painless tho and seems to resolve those types of issues.

im really curious how is it since i updated to 8.2 i had a very bad battery life , for example when i had my 8.1.1 out of the box i use my phone for around 1h30 to drain the first 10% from a full 100% charge and since i upgraded to 8.2 i didnt had even 50mins from the first 10% but my whole battery life was horrible so i just downgraded back to 8.1.3 to see how is it ...

Everyone uses their phones differently, so without looking at usage pattern is hard to see what's really draining the juice.
Take a screenshot of what you got, the battery usage menu. Here's mine.

. Anything good , i still feel it bad compared to some people getting around 8 hours or more i have everything off btw !

I noticed you had 2 bars in one of your screenshots. What I found that if I don't have good coverage, my battery life gets destroyed. It looks like the phone keeps on looking for signals.

When I had android, I had to charge my phone half way through the day since at work, I don't get great signals, often getting network service error. I switched carrier to TMo, I could get two full daylights of use with my IP6+.

You should try that "Enable Auto-Brightness". I also have my LTE on auto, I don't even bother turning it off/on. I have background refresh on, but individual apps are set to off.

Thanks for the help everyone, I think I fixed it though.

I did some more searching online and some people were saying the battery "calibration" can get out of whack after an update. They said to drain the battery to zero, and then charge it completely to 100%.

I left my iPhone playing a live streaming video (over wifi of course) yesterday to zero it out, and then I plugged it in for 5 hours. I unplugged it about 10pm (the same I did the previous day), and didn't touch it again until today at 8am. When I checked today, my battery was still showing 100%.

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone.

Great to hear that , and yes calibrating the battery once a month does help to improve battery life , also try to reset your phone after the calibrating process by holding the power and home button at the same time until u see the apple logo this will also help a lot if anything is going wrong with your phone

8.2 has seemed to improve my battery. After the first update, I noticed a little drop in life. But nothing worth going crazy over. Plus, I've used this iPhone more than my others, and I think the battery is in perfect running order. I start at 5AM, and my day ends with charging it around 8-8:30PM, I will be around 40-30%, depending on how many Emails, and messages are sent. Overall, this iPhone has the best of everything, except, -a bump in RAM, would so do wonders for the expirence .

Glad you're seeing an improvement. Did you do a fresh restore + update by any chance?

No, I did the update over the air. I always do a hard restart afterwards. I've noticed in the past that it usually takes one cycle through the battery after an update for it to start functioning properly. For example, after the last update I had horrible battery life the next day or two but after another full charge it went back to normal. However that didn't seem to be the case this time around. I got positive results immediately after 8.2. What ever the case is, I'm certainly happy about it! It's for sure lasting me longer now and I'm using everything just as I was before the update. For some reason my battery would drop 8-10% overnight and now it only goes down 1-2%. So all in all this has been a great update for me and my health app is so much faster and more responsive. I use that one a lot.

Thanks for your reply! You're absolutely right. I did a hard reset after the update and it is holding up pretty well. Only 2% to 3% drop overnight. One can only hope that iOS 8.3 won't change anything.

Mine sucks..my phone is not even a month old..I leave the house in the morning at 100%..mainly stream music via wifi during work and occasionally check facebook and messenger..send out a few texts and maybe get a phone call..by the time I get home in the afternoon,it's between 20-30%..I'm lucky to get 6 hours of usage time before it dies..

My advice for better battery life: Never do on OTA update, download the ipsw and restore from iTunes. Just google ipsw and download the right iOS version for your iPhone. For those who don't know which ipsw to download, connect your iPhone to iTunes and check if it's an iPhone5,1, or iPhone5,2 or 6,1/6,2.
I have seen better battery life when I do a normal restore from iTunes using a downloaded ipsw, not a DFU restore.
Hope it helps.

for some reason my battery health is already at 91% after 132+ cycles. my iPhone 5 battery is still around 81% and well over 500 cycles after more than two years
